Sky stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his uniform. The one thing he hated about new uniforms was their stiffness; the way the sleeves chafed at his wrists irritated him no end. But he wouldn’t trade this uniform for anything in the world.

“And I always thought it was Syd who took forever to get dressed.”

Sky groaned and rolled his eyes at the jibing comment. He could see Z reflected in the mirror as she leant against the doorframe. “What do you want Z?” he asked tersely.

“Can’t a gal pay a visit to her fearless team leader?”

“Only if it’s on official business.”

“Well, this is official.” She strode into the room and stopped next to him, hovering at his elbow. “I had to come and see how you looked,” she smirked at him.

He glanced at her briefly, “Well you came, you saw, you can leave.”

“Aww, what’s the matter, don’t want any admirers?”

Sky clenched his jaw in growing annoyance, “If you’re done mocking me, you can leave now, thanks.”

“I wouldn’t mock you, Sky,” came the soft reply. He blinked and gazed back at her. She was looking him up and down and he twitched slightly; the way her eyes were roaming across his body was making him a bit uncomfortable. She nodded in appreciation, “It looks good on you; red is definitely your color.”

He shook his head at her, “Oh, so that’s why you’re here. To give me fashion advice. I thought that was Syd’s job.” He focused his attention back on his reflection as he tugged once again on the jacket hem.

“That's not going to make it any more comfortable, you know. You have to break it in first. Get a chance to get used to it.”

“Z, I’ve been wearing an S.P.D. uniform for years. I don’t need to 'get used' to it.”

“But this one is different; it carries with it a lot more responsibility. Maybe that’s making you more uncomfortable than the uniform itself.”

He shot her a glare, “I am not uncomfortable. It feels fine.”

“So why do you keep pulling on it? That jacket isn’t going to magically change any. Besides,” she suddenly stepped in front of him, smoothing out the front of his uniform jacket for him, “You look great.”

She gazed up at him just as he was looking down; they both remained frozen in silence for a long moment. Z gently squeezed his arm, slowly stepping away, “Congratulations, Sky. You’ll be a great Red Ranger.”

She began to walk out, when Sky stopped her, lightly placing a hand on her arm. “Hey...” he glanced briefly at the floor, before meeting her gaze once again. “Thanks.”

Z smiled at him and suddenly rose on her tiptoes, giving him a soft peck on the cheek. “You’re welcome.”

Sky released her and she scurried out the door. He took one last look at his reflection, the uniform no longer feeling stiff and uncomfortable.
