British, and proud of it. (I have to say British as there are a few pesky Scots in my bloodline for me to claim to be wholly English, she says tongue-in-cheek. Maybe.;) )

I feel I should add that today is also the day on which Æthelred Unræd died in 1016. Known to generations of schoolchildren as Ethelred 'the unready', (a corruption of the word unræd [or 'redeless' - same root] which means 'poor counsel') he wasn't the finest King the country ever had but he wasn't the worst either!
