Happy new year!

New year's olog, except that I barely address my current events or the new year. Excuse the face and the low quality; I hadn't realized it was such a low resolution when I was recording it, and I was too lazy to redo it, so. XD

Happy new year!

I really like what you said about Arashi fans not wanting to think there are other groups worth their time... XD I'm a little embarrassed now when I think back to when I first got into Arashi, how reluctant I was to give other groups a try. Each group really does have their own unique reasons to love them ♥

And your cat is adorable~

Yeah, I completely agree. Thinking back to my own experience getting into Johnny's... it seems like since Arashi is the most well-known/popular group, more people get into Arashi from outside of Johnny's fandom than get into other groups that way. And I was so very reluctant to get into Johnny's at all, so then after I started liking Arashi I think I reacted to that feeling by saying like, Arashi is different, they're special, I'm not going to get into other Johnny's groups. Which is all completely illogical XD;; But I don't know if other people have a similar experience?

For me now, though, Johnny's feels so interconnected, and I feel like I can enjoy things so much more (guest appearances on TV shows, Countdown, fics where members of other groups appear...) when I like multiple groups and have a passing knowledge of most other groups XD There are definitely some groups more suited to my tastes than others, but yeah, the unwillingness to try other groups is really unfortunate.

Right, exactly! I think Johnny's as a system is so built on the intergroup interactions and the senpai/kouhai relationships that having a little more of that context makes everything that much more interesting and entertaining to watch. It's probably not something anyone realizes they're missing until they actually dig in and learn about multiple groups, and then the world -- the...... Johnny's World~ ohoho -- opens right up.

My personal experience that I was pretty pliable when I first got into Johnny's. As luck would have it, my first fandom friend was also really into Kanjani8, and half-facetiously into HSJ XD so I started to learn about other groups just by being her friend. In that sense, I think I'm really fortunate, because it can be really, really hard to get into new groups (or even the first group to begin with) without someone you know to guide you and to fan with.

Yeah, I totally agree XD And that is really lucky~ I think I mostly have Chinen to thank, because if I'm remembering correctly, his love for Ohno played a big role in getting faded_lace and me to look into JUMP and other groups, even if I was embarrassingly reluctant at first XD;;
