So, here we are more than a year and a half out from election and we already have people throwing their hats in the ring. I know that primaries start in I think Feb, nope strike that January, but that's still freaking 8 months away people! (For foreign folks each state has a primary election, there are some dates that have multiple states, but due to idiotic historical precedence New Hampshire and Iowa get to go first and states keep trying to push primaries earlier so that they can seem more important, because once the big population states of Texas, California, Florida and New York go, really doesn't matter what a state like Montana or Delaware thinks)
And already, 19 months out from the election it's looking like 'None of the Above'. The media seems to have already dubbed HIllary Clinton the democratic nominee and I am morally opposed to her being president for reasons that predate Benghazi and the whole email thing, but those reinforce why I don't trust her to be president, as much as I would love to have a woman president. While I lean more conservative, I can't bring myself to vote for the overly religious nuts foisted onto the Republican Party by the overly vocal religious right. This whole group seems to have utterly forgotten about the compassion of Christ and honestly gives Christianity a bad name. This group still persecutes and shuns those who don't share their beliefs. Overall there is far too much money in politics and politicians don't actually work for the people anymore - they work for the donors (who are either corporations or their shills) thanks to all the money. I would love for there to be spending caps on politics, but since politicians would have to vote for it, don't see it happening.
And since there is so much money in politics and these two parties, there won't be a third and I have to believe a vast majority of Americans are in the middle, but we get ignored by both parties who cater to the extreme wingnuts. You know, maybe compulsary voting wouldn't be a bad idea because it could foster a third party. Of course that also means you will have a ton of uneducated idiots voting for whichever sound bite happened to catch their limited attention.
