I turned on the TV a few minutes ago for the first time in about a month. I don't understand how random grisly murders of young white girls is somehow important to the majority of people watching a national news program. I mean, I turn on the news because I want to know what's going on in the world. I'm sure there's hundreds of murders across the nation everyday. What is it about the ones that make it onto prime-time television that makes them more important than all the others? And who really cares except for the families, and perhaps the communitites, that are directly involved? It seems pretty damned dysfunctional to me.
