----------

Skye didn't know what it was, save that it was a three-sided object that was pissing her off. It danced just out of reach, and she sat back on her haunches and watched it like the mighty huntress that she was. It swung above her head languidly, taunting her, daring her to try and catch it. The tiny kitten couldn't help the telling swish of her tail across the floor as her hind legs silently tensed and her paws found purchase - shaky as it was on the strange ground in this place - as she prepared to pounce. In an eye-blink she leaped as high as she could, forepaws stretching upwards to try and snag the thing. Maddeningly it rose with her and her claws barely caught the bottom side before gravity took over and she landed awkwardly. Her eyes never left the dangling object, not even so she could glance over at Her Human to see what he thought of this strange, wonderful thing that had invaded their shared den.

Skye didn't bother sitting back this time, preferring to have the ability to bounce around at a whim so she could confuse it with her warrior skills. Suddenly, it dipped down towards her as if to strike, and she braced herself, head dipping down as she lowered her body and shied away slightly in defense. The light chuckle of Her Human had her gaze darting over to where he sat perched on his sleepy-place. He was looking down at her with an amused expression, and surely he couldn't be responsible for letting this damnable thing in?

Her attention was violently pulled back to the three-sided object as it attempted to strike at her again, and she bounced back a step before leaping towards it. Unbelievably, it pulled away from her as she flew through the air, and her paws closed on nothing as her arc hit its apex and she began to descend once more. She landed and turned as the thing flew in the opposite direction. This time she got lucky, as her tiny jaws closed around one side and she held on with all her might. The thing abandoned its retreat and Skye found herself dangling from it as it hovered twice her length above the ground. Her jaw began to ache, but she wouldn't be the first to let go and admit defeat.

The warm arm of Her Human enfolded her and the object went slack in her mouth as she snuggled close to Her Human's body. She growled softly and looked up at Her Human. She narrowed her eyes in pride and brandished the object for him to see what a great and mighty hunter she was. She relinquished the gift gladly as Her Human's finger hooked around it and placed it on the sleepy-place beside him. She purred loudly and nuzzled him, and she could feel him vibrate as he laughed again.

It didn't matter if he thought she was funny when she was hunting, because in the end? She had won.

Victory was hers!
