"I'm certainly intrigued," Jarod said. "As for what it wanted - I don't know. I didn't even know these existed until the other day. Maybe the mark will lead s to both its owner and its purpose."

It wanted to eat me for dinner, he thought with a shiver. Speaking of... "Are you a vegetarian?" he asked.

"What?" Jarod was slightly surprised by the change of subject. "No, not today. I can be if I need to, though. Why?"

A suspicion started to dawn on him. "You don't propose that we eat THAT, do you?"

"N-no!" Raphael visibly cringed... He hadn't expected that as a response or even a suggestion. His stomach lurched at the idea and suddenly he was glad he could go without food indefinitely.

"I was just going to ask if you wanted to go out to eat later. I know this great vegetarian place." Though not now, as his appetite had been sufficiently squelched.

"Oh," Jardo said. "Sure. Anytime. We may want to finish with this fellow first, though. I have no idea how long it'll keep."

He made a face. As if the Hellbeast were a leftover dinner that could be spoiled. But the Son didn't need to know he was creeped out by a dead thing. He was a doctor after all...

"What next?" he asked.

"Cut it open, chart where the inner organs lie, weigh them, take pictures..." Jaros suggested, reaching for a scalpel to mark the lines along which he intended to place the first incision.

"I think we should start with the skull and work our way along its spine," he suggested.

"Sounds sensible enough," Jarod said.

Placing the tip of the scalpel against the base of the dead Hellbeast's skull, he started applying pressure, testing to see how much strength it would take to cut through the layers of tissue.
