[Kurtis is at the item shop, too. He has been trying to make a communication device for a while, but he hasn't had much luck. He's looking at many of the same parts as Uhura.]

I've been trying to for several weeks now. I even met a robot with a built-in communication device, but her range was limited.

We'd need something with a long range, as long as we can get, really, if there's to be any chance of making contact outside the barrier.

But since the barrier is made with Shifting, how can we be sure any signal will pass through it? My plan had been to only activate the device once there had been some alteration in the barrier, but I'd prefer not to wait if there's a way to avoid it.

What about these tunnels I've been told about? Maybe there's a way we could utilize those to our advantage? A long-shot, but I've learned sometimes that's the best way to go.

There is some machinery in the tunnels. What are you suggesting?

I'm not quite sure, yet. I'll probably go check them out soon, see what there is to see.
