Random thoughts

So, last weekend, army buddy came up for a surprise visit, his first long weekend since his unit got back from Iraq. We had an ex-large pepperoni pizza and half a 12-pack of the new black cherry vanilla coke (which is yummy, btw), and for the next several hours, he regaled us with "war" stories, tales of stupid army comrades, and adventures in bars, while we caught him up on the last year of our lives. As revenge repayment for that day two years ago he walked in with a DVD boxed set said, "I know you loved the movie, you MUST watch this!" and promptly put "Children of the Gods" into my DVD player, I loaned him my boxed set of Firefly, which I just finished watching. He *probably* won't get as obsessed with Firefly as I have gotten with Stargate, but he does have a thing for women who kick ass, and Firefly is kinda swarming with that.

Spent *this* weekend applying finishing touches to my computer installation, and meeting with an old friend who wants to collaborate with the dude's mythic photography project. The three of us had a really great bottle of red wine - a Romanian pinot noir from a winery that has existed since Rome first conquered Romania - and pizza, and talked all afternoon.

And my machine is, indeed, totally bitching.

In other random firings from my disjointed mind, I've decided that Chex mix is a breakfast food. After all, Chex is sold as a breakfast food, and Chex mix is made of Chex! As long as you have a glass of milk or coffee or orange juice with it, it is perfectly suitable for breakfast consumption. (yes, this logic does also apply to rice krispies treats, if you're wondering)

I keep buying odd herbal or fruit infused black and green teas. But, most of the time, I really just want a plain old cup of black tea. Earl Grey. Hot. Sometimes a cup of traditional Japanese green tea. Nothing fancy, fruity flavored, spiced, or herbal infusion non-tea . There's nothing like simple hot tea.
