Saturday, really lazy till the evening then saw 'Mondovino' at the Arts Picturehouse. This is a documentary about the globalisation of wine, how multinational companies are influencing the taste at the expense of smaller, traditional producers. A bit esoteric (I'm not a wine critic myself) but interesting idea and an insight into the monied world of mass producers.
Sunday, I was persuaded to stand-in at another chess event. I lost 2/2 and have decided no more serious games till next year. It takes time for chess skill to sink in and competitive games are not the best arena to learn in. As a consequence, most of Sunday disappeared.
Then, Sunday evening, a very pleasant gathering at the country seat of Mr and Mrs
scy11a and
drpyrojames. Good conversation, food and booze. Plus, some excellent photos of their wedding in Australia. The photographer did a very good job though he appears to have talents in other areas as well :¬)
Back home thanks to the impressive driving skills of
casilda in
surje's shiny black gothmobile.
Now, looking forward to a quiet week, mostly devoted to the guitar and plotting my next move.
