Of course this brought her thoughts back to Cid. Why she had come out here (...that was deeply personal, things had not been particularly productive with her husband as of late, and with her apparent illness worsening...) was Kunsel, the SOLDIER that they had picked up a little while back had suggested she come along in case there was a need for her specialist assistance. There had been the nagging doubts but Shera took pride in her work and if there was something she could offer...
There. It was nothing else. That was the real reason. Shera was a woman who worked hard to be useful. She was not someone who could legitimize making feeble attempts to feel like she was being even the smallest fraction of use to someone.
The helicopter touched down, the hum under the seat whirring down slowly until it was appropriate to remove the grimy earmuffs which Shera did as she stood, wiping her hands down the grey overalls she was wearing. There were a number of people on this expedition - Kunsel, of course she had become quite familiar with; Lucrecia. a woman of science she was keenly aware of both from her time at Shinra and the stories that followed her; Rude and Reno, Turks; and... Shelke. Shelke who had been able to use neural networks to connect with The Shera - SND if Shera could recall correct - with the body of a child and the memories of two separate lifetimes. That was the extent of her knowledge about the others.
A light shake of her head and the engineer slipped her glasses up her nose as she moved out, picking up a toolbox from under her seat. She had spent far too long with her head in mechanics and oil refraction techniques. Too long worrying about the Captain, and, to a lesser extent, her own self. That just would not do any longer.
Still her silence remained as Shera gave a small smile to Rude as she hopped out besides him. The large man was hoisting a massive backpack onto his shoulders, but seemed content enough to do so. Brushing a stray lock behind one arm of her glasses Shera opened her toolbox and checked everything over once more.
