NEWS REPORT: Massacre at Junon
A swordsman has been reported to have killed at least two WRO employees and taken innocent civilians hostage in the City of Junon, leaving the newly re-invigorated city in shock. Eyewitnesses allege that the murderer was dressed in the trademark uniform of Shinra's TURKS, deepening suspicions of the recent occupation from the former global mega-corporation.
The Company President, Rufus Shinra and WRO Commissioner, Reeve Tuesti have been in talks, and latest news suggests that the man in question has been apprehended by Shinra. A joint statement is expected to be issued shortly.
NEWS REPORT - UPDATE: Aftershocks located in Old Migdar. Aid Efforts Ongoing.
Scientists of the WRO have recorded additional seismic activity in the ruins of Midgar. Initial data suggests that these minor aftershocks are of no threat to the city of Edge, and citizens are being asked to remain calm.
Aid effort continues to be coordinated to the worst affected areas. Casulties are rumoured to be in the thousands, with the populated nation of Wutai - according to last available reports - being the worst hit.
Wutai is currently unavailable for comment. Communication lines are down.
Survivors of Gongaga have fled to Cosmo Canyon, devasted with the destruction of their town. One seventy year old survivor remarked: "The reactor explosion robbed many of our lives. Now we have been robbed of our homes and we no longer even have the right to respect our dead." Ancient prohibitive rules of access to Cosmo Canyon have lead to a number being turned away. An independent spokesmen on behalf of both the WRO and Shinra has issued this statement: "All efforts are being made in coalition to ensure the livelihoods of those affected by these terrible events."
