So yesterday we took the shinkansen up to Niigata, to visit the Hakusan-jinja Shrine. For New Years, going to shrines is a big deal, and they are open with a Matsuri style fair going on. Yesterday was the last day to go. We got there pretty much as things were shutting down, which wasn't entirely a bad thing. I took some pictures which I will upload later. Though most came out kind of blurry since I was really trying not to be intrusive with my camera. We want to go back when it doesn't have the booths and all the people there at some point to actually see more of the shrine and the land it's on.
They had food vendors there, We got some tasty food, which I will have to have Rik tell me the names of again. Then went to this cafe, that I swear was taken out of a little village in europe somewhere. Then wandered around and did some shopping. All in all it was a very good day.
I'll have to post pictures later. Probably when I get home so I can edit the sizes a little bit.
