The only three negatives about yesterday were as follows: I have a slight cold, I had to return to teaching after spring break, and the day eventually had to end.
I managed to leave school early and meet
fiannaharpar at her office, where I recieved my birthday presents: iLife '05 (GarageBand 2- d00d!!), the Complete VeggieTales singalong 4 DVD set (I *may* share with Lake... ;-}), and Karaoke Revolution 3. As it was, the Taiko game was all out.
I picked up the kiddo and headed home while my sweetie procured desertty items. It was Texas barbeque and venison sausage for dinner and desert was chocolate cupcakes w/chocolate icing and chocolate ice cream w/chocolate syrup. What?? Oh, there was some vanilla ice cream and cherries, too. But I left that for other people.
Oh yeah, people! Let's see, we were there (duh), and so was
sk4p and
blackpaladin and
greenpear and
house_elf and
otterblossom and Jet. Yep, that's all! Well, not counting the dog and two cats. So, after some guitar jamming by
sk4p,
blackpaladin and myself (Trev's coming along nicely after only a couple of weeks, btw) it was into the front room for some all around humiliation with the karaoke game.
The game comes with a microphone, which is dangerous in and of itself. The goal is to sing any given song exactly as it is sung by the studio singer. This includes all the pitch bends and inflections. The pitch accuracy is quite impressive, and it doesn't matter what octave you use (I sang parts of "I Got You Babe" in three different octaves, and it all registered fine). Five of us got into an arcade game, playing against each other, and we all chose characters and venues. I of course picked "The Dude" with the cowboy outfit and started with "Under Pressure." Damn, that's harder than I thought. It was bizarre but a lot of fun. Defnintely a group game as opposed to something I'd mess with by myself much. Unless it was to play with the mike reverb, which is too damn tempting. [@geek(Cleanup on aisle 4!!)]
I had a blast last night. I appreciate everyone who came over and played and had fun.
blackpaladin, thank you for the CD.
otterblossom, thank you for the card.
sk4p, thank you for the Border's card. You all rock, and I'll remember this one for a good long while. :-)
