Description: The SETI Institute has a full-time opening for a Sr. UNIX
systems administrator. As a member of the research and
development team responsible for designing and building
innovative SETI signal detection and analysis systems, the
position will provide network and systems administration
support. In addition the prospective candidate will also
provide general system administration support for users at the
SETI Institute corporate offices.
Details: The successful candidate will have 5 to 10 years of
increasing responsibility administering Un*x, OS X and Windows
systems. In addition, the candidate should have most of the
following skills: Scripting experience (Perl, tcsh, bash,
tcl/tsh, awk/sed, PHP, Python) Very strong network skills
(Layer 2/3 switching, ACLs, security) Performance tuning of
Solaris/Linux nis, ldap, dns, sendmail/procmail, dhcp, ntp,
sql,ssh Experience in securing the network environment, using
IPSEC, firewalls, IDS, and log monitoring. Incident response
RFI and ESD experience a big plus System imaging Backup and
recovery The SETI Institute is a leader in

Salary Range is 70 - 85 K. Position includes an excellent
