Mrs. Melnichuk taught me a little bit of polish. She didn't know a lot herself just basic things but it helped. Once you get to Russia, you will be fine, and it will come easy to you because you are going to be living it. All you can do is try and believe me your going to be fine. Most likely the family will speak a little bit of english but insist them to speak russian. As for school, school is great, it's a little overwhelming at first but once you make friends everything is great. As for the subjects well it is different for each exchange student. My advice to you since your a junior is just to try. That's all you can do. If you fail, you fail...but college will look as you living in another country for a year than the grades you got at school there. Trust me...they will put you prob. in language classes like Russian and English and maybe history. Easy subjects. Thats what they did for me. I am sure they will do the same. If your not comfortable in your class speak up and tell someone....because when I started out they put me in a bio and chem and physics class along with math and other shit that was totally uncalled for...so I said can I go into another class and they were cool with it. I am now taking french, polish, english, history, and math. I love it. I don't have to take any test, I do, though do some work but it's easy. We don't have textbooks. Our country is too poor to subscribe them to us...if we really needed them we would have to buy them with our own money Oh your welcome. I actually heard about Rotary from Mrs. Harkins...there was a girl a year ahead of me who went to Austria. I knew her very well.
I probably will see you before you leave because I come home sometime in June or July, not sure yet. It depends on when you leave too...you will most likely be at the welcome home dinner...it's a really fun event. I went last year. It was 4 days before I left, I felt like passing out. Yes I can't wait to read your journal...oh advice..don't lose your english...it's happend before..always keep up with it. Just incase...
