His shoulders rose and fell as he sucked in a deep breath and released it slowly; the soft hiss inaudible in the surrounding hype. His hands fumbled at his hips, checking for the umpteenth time that his microphone was securely fastened. The last thing he wanted was for it to fall. His heart skipped a beat at the very thought of it. He closed his eyes and started to count to ten.
Cool, chapped lips pressed against his own in a fleeting moment that made his heart leap. His lashes fluttered open and soft brown eyes looked down upon him kindly. Long fingers smoothed down his lapel and he only just caught the whispered sentiments of luck before he walked back out on stage to a deafening roar that jolted through him.
He sang of love and things he didn’t really understand. His swiped his finger across his lips and flushed at the sudden memory of chaste kisses and pretty smiles.

True Love Kiss
He watched with eyes wide with shock. He couldn’t quite hide the pain and the disappointment that welled inside him. He took in the scene; bodies flush against each other, mouths pressed tightly against each other. His pale skin that contrasted so nicely with Takaki’s tanned skin, the tangle of limbs that left him tremble with anger; that made his eyes wet with tears.
Takaki half rose and he saw Yabu’s fingers grasp at his arm to hold him still. His heart dropped to the soles of his slipper clad feet. He didn’t expect this. He hadn’t even had a clue. Yabu’s mouth opened and his lips moved but he couldn’t hear the words. He didn’t even want to hear them; the excuses, the denial. He didn’t want to know of it.
He slowly let go of the door and it clicked softly shut. He stepped backwards, his eyes filled with tears. He couldn’t see anything and he stumbled as he gathered his things. He heard Yabu call his name. He couldn’t breathe.
Outside of Yabu’s apartment behind him he sagged against the closed door. Looking down at his keys in his clenched fist he slowly unclipped one. Slipping it through the letter box, he hauled himself up, straightened his shoulders and walked into the night with his head held high.

“I’m sorry.”
I pushed you away and you had the nerve to look shocked. I guess that’s how little you truly respected me. You must have thought that I would just let you walk all over me. I can’t let you do that. I’m worth more than that.
The tears that threatened to fall all but disappeared and drew myself up to my full height. You watched me with dark reproachful eyes and for the first time from where I stood you didn’t look so impressive.
“Don’t tell me you’re sorry because I know you’re not. If you hadn’t been caught you wouldn’t have said anything. You’d have just let me continue living this lie.”
You stepped closer to me and I struggled not to flinch. When you’re hands fell to my shoulders, I held my breath. You pressed a soft kiss to my cheek and my hands clenched at my sides in an effort not to reach out and drag you against me.
You swiped a thumb across my lashes to wipe away my tears. You’re fingers traced my brow and the outline of my jaw; a journey they’ve made a thousand times before and will never make again. You stepped past me.
I heard the door knob turn.
“It wasn’t a lie Inoo.”
The door creaked as it opened.
“I did love you. I’m sorry for making you cry. I’m sorry that I can’t love you anymore.’
The snick of the lock catching sounded infinitesimal and yet it echoed loud and clear in my head.

“Are you taller again?”
Morimoto blinked in surprise at the accusation.
“Um. Not any taller than yesterday.”
Fierce brown eyes narrowed as Chinen stalked closer. Suddenly feeling like a caged animal, Morimoto took a step backwards.
“You are definitely taller. I don’t like it. I’ll never catch up at this rate.”
Chinen looked so put upon that it just made Morimoto burst into laughter. Risking his bandmate’s wrath he lifted a hand to ruffle his fingers through Chinen’s hair. He swallowed hard when he realized that the black strands really were as soft as they looked.
His hand slipped to rest against the nape of Chinen’s neck and the other boys looked slightly bewildered. Smoothing away Chinen’s bangs, he leaned down and pressed a kiss against the bare expanse of his forehead.
Chinen clucked his tongue and predictably pushed him away. “That’s not fair.”
“Well you better catch up quickly.”
He grinned as he danced away from Chinen’s hands. He would pay for his insolence later but right now it was far too amusing to watch his boyfriend’s lips curve into a pout.
