RL has been running amok as of late which means absence from nearly all things virtual. So for those who still may read my journal, here's a brief summary of what I've been up to:
- I've been without my laptop for coming up on 3 months now. First it got sick, then better, then REALLY sick. Now it refuses to turn on and is officially dead. Fortunately, all important photos, docs, and stories were saved before it's untimely death. I should be getting a new machine sometime this week, so yay for that. Being without has been like detoxing, but really, I need the thing back because going through the kids' pictures for scrapbooks has been a chore on Hubby's computer.
- Have been working on trying to get caught up with scrapbooks for the kids. Just a few more pages and I'll be done with Princess Diva's 4-year album, so then I'll only be 2 years behind on hers. But I'm still 3 years behind on her brother's albums, plus I have school and sports albums for them and family stuff to work on. Will I ever catch up again? Probably not. But I have a massive scrap weekend, sans offspring and spouse, planned with BFF and SIL in a couple of weeks so hopefully I can put a decent dent in the work.
- Have been going through the slow process of organizing my embroidery materials for the last month. I have finally finished winding all of the skeins of thread (yards and yards and yards) around their little bobbin holders. Some 150 of them x approx. 9 yards apeice... you do the math. Finished that, and sorting teeny tiny seed beads last night so now everything is organized into 5 nice little boxes. Next step is the countless number of kits, patterns, and books I have to decide what to keep and what to try and resell. Biggest problem is that cross stitch seems to be a dying art, at least in my part of the world, so I'll have to investigate the best way to sell them and make it worth everyone's while.
- Spent last Friday at Disneyland with my brother and his family. Everyone had a fabulous time. Matt even braved the
Tower of Terror, something I don't think he'll be doing again. I couldn't believe he wanted to do it, and I was so very proud he plucked up the courage that I didn't want to discourage him. However, the whole thing ended with many tears, and much hugging from his mother and cousins. Thankfully, he didn't let the scary experience cloud the rest of his day and amazingly, there have been no nightmares about it... that I know of anyway.
- Today is the start of the Spring semester at the college and already things are a mess. I can't hardly walk through the hallway of the Administration building for all the students trying to register and pay for their classes. And I can't take the outside route because it's raining which drives ever more kids inside. Plus the rosters aren't working properly and we can't run transcripts. My kids are off of school (lucky ducks!) and home with their dad... and sick. And Matt's first baseball practice is supposed to be tonight... but it's raining... so hopefully not. Oh, did I mention it's my anniversary? 13 years! Have a lovely getaway planned for the coming long weekend in which we drop the minions off with their grandparents and escape for a couple of days. I cannot wait!!
That's it for now. Hope everyone has a lovely Valentine's Day tomorrow!
