Back in the groove

I've gone through the novel a few more times, cleaning things up. I'm sending it off on Monday to my agent. As well as sending off a short story as well. (WOOOT!)

Today I started back into the next novel. It felt SOOOO good. I had thought that I should do an editing pass on what I'd already written for this novel. Then I realized that I'd rather have more dental work done without Novocaine. (Don't ask.) Instead, I went through the chapter before the one I was working on -- chapter eight. I discovered some of the problems that I'd found in the first novel, but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd feared. Because I'm at this phase of the writing, rewrites always mean adding text, so the chapter grew by about 300 words.

When I stopped working on this novel in November of last year, I had just finished handwriting chapters nine and ten. Today I typed up chapter nine. I had thought it would be a good way to get back into the novel, and I was right. It worked for me. Doing this drew me back in, got me back into the swing of things. I'm so excited about working on it again.

I'm sad that I won't be able to work on it much tomorrow. I missed yoga on Wednesday -- had the migraine from hell -- so I am going to go to a makeup class tomorrow morning. Then I have to work on the day job, do some work for the condo, as well as critique stories for Norwescon. I'll work on it this week, but I won't do much over the weekend because of the con.

I'm going to be here more often as I'm writing again. I actually write about three times as many posts as I actually publish, even when I'm not writing.
