Summary: Junmyeon had given up on ‘normal’ teenager life. That was until he met Chanyeol, the famous heart breaker.

Junmyeon feels like he’s going to be sick. No matter how many times he does this, he doesn’t believe that he will get used to it… It is twice in primary, four times in middle school thanks to bullies, before he is finally home-schooled. That’s tough. Junmyeon loves his parents so much, but he thinks that they are over idealist and optimistic. You see, his father is a professor and his mother is a teacher. They are education expertise who believes that putting a disable child to a special school for disable or such facility is unfortunately, a form of discrimination in education system.

“My son is capable of studying just like normal student and has more passion to pursue it more than some others. It is unacceptable if you refuse to accept his existence here before you see how he performs in classes.”

With those words that seem so fancy and well put(and some good connections), Professor Kim managed to convince the principal of Soo Man Private High School to give Junmyeon three months of probation. Seriously, Junmyeon would be more than happy to enroll in disable school program. Sometimes he feels like disables have more normal and logical attitudes than normal people.

“Today I would like to introduce you to a new student.”

He can hear his homeroom teacher’s words clearly from behind the class door. His hearing is always stronger than most people.

“You could come in!”

Here goes nothing… laying low and perhaps they will be kind enough to ignore me…

He grabs his walking stick with sweaty palm and opens the door. He hears gasps and whispers as he walks into the class. Nothing new for him.

“His name is Kim Junmyeon, as you see… He’s…”

The teacher seems having trouble in choosing the proper words to describe Junmyeon.

“I’m blind, nice to meet you all.”

The class goes silent and Junmyeon finds himself sighing. He shouldn’t have been so bold. Being bold triggers some bullying-potentials in hopeless hormonal young people.

“Please treat Junmyeon well, as you treat each-others. Help him so he won’t have difficulties adapting to new environment, okay?”

Lazily said ‘okay’ echoes through the room.

“Junmyeon, you could sit next to… Chanyeol, stop raising your hands like monkeys! Jongdae, yeah you…”

Junmyeon lets out soft squeak when he feels someone pulls his stick out of sudden.

“Don’t!! Don’t pull my stick!”

A laugh escapes from someone’s mouth, while others whisper even louder.

“So.. sorry, I didn’t mean to…” says a new soft voice. This must be that Jongdae person. “How should I lead you your table?”

“C-can I put my left hand on your shoulder?” asks Junmyeon.

He could feel a soft hand grabs his and leads it to a bony shoulder.

A small man, apparently. Couldn’t be much taller than me.

Junmyeon tries to hide a winning smile from that realization. His hyung one time says that he has more complex of being short than being blind.

Jongdae helps him putting his bag besides his seat. Junmyeon puts his stick by his own though, since Jongdae apparently is too scared to touch it again.

“Sonsaengnim, may I exchange seat with Minseok?” said someone with deep voice. To Junmyeon, it sounds like the forty year old butcher who often comes to their house to deliver meat. Junmyeon once visits the shop and gets to know that he also plays in a rock-acoustic band. Some of the students laugh.

“Based on what reason, Park Chanyeol?” asks the teacher with tired tones.

“Because I get heat-stroke sitting here near the window in the middle of summer!” answered the said Chanyeol with such sweet intonation. “On the other side, Minseok pale skin could use some sunlight.

Someone screams ‘what’ in displease. Junmyeon can also hear some cat-calling and inappropriate whistles. What is appropriate in high school anyway.

“You, yourself gives me stroke, Chanyeol,” says the teacher. “Use some lotion and let me start the class in peace!”

Actually, his father has some points. Despite the fact that he’s unable to see what the teacher writes on the board, Junmyeon doesn’t have that much difficulties following the lesson. His father’s old friend who is the head of a braille-books publishing company kindly(although not for free) translates all his textbooks as soon as he receives it. That’s why he enters the school two months late because it takes quite a time to prepare everything. If he has something he doesn’t understand, his parents or his SNU chemical engineering major hyung will always be there to tutor him. And let’s face it, Junmyeon is a genius. He translates Shakespeare’s works to Korean to fill his time. This Shakespeare geek is unfortunately lack in common knowledge of friendship, though. As he refused Jongdae’s kind offer to eat at the cafeteria because he brings his own lunch.
So here is Kim Junmyeon, eating alone at his desk on his first day of school, until a certain voice stops him from eating his stewed-fish.

“So you never watch porn,” says the rocker-butcher’s voice. “Since you are blind.”

Junmyeon thanks the universe for a wonderful mother who cleans his fish and makes sure that there’s no fishbone left to choke him. If he’s not mistaken, those words could be included in sexual-harassment.

“No,” answers Junmyeon bravely. Not giving an answer could lead to his personal things being thrown away and he wants to finish his lunch in peace. “Although, some foolish classmates ever sneaked porn videos to my bag to trap me. They only realized it won’t work much later.”

“So you don’t watch movies in general? Even marvel’s?”

“I watched normal movies,” says Junmyeon as he continues chewing. “To enjoy the music and voices at least.”

There’s a sound of chair being pulled and someone sits beside him. Since it comes from his left side, so it should be Jongdae’s desk. “Why do you keep your eyes open?

“Why shouldn’t i?”

The rocker-butcher voice chuckles. “I think it would be cooler for you to wear black sunglasses. Isn’ t it tiring to keep your eyes open when you can’t even see?”

Some people might think that these kind of questions will offend him, but somehow it amuses Junmyeon instead. Of course he despises people who bully him with mean words, but he also doesn’t wish others to treat him like he’s an overly sensitive piece of china.

“It isn’t tiring…”

There’s another sound of chair being moved. He suddenly feels a hot breath close to his face. Too close for the sake of personal space.

“You’re cute, you know…”

“Excuse me??”

“Like a hot cutie.. really really hot cutie…”

Jumyeon could feel his cheeks and his ear getting red. To tell you the truth, no one ever flirts with him. Well maybe there’re one or two, but they are subtle so he’s never really sure.

“Leave the poor boy alone, Park,” says another new voice. It was deep but not as raspy. “It’s his first day at school.”

“I’m not doing bad thing to him!”

“You’re a man-wolf in an XXL sheep suite and everyone knows that!” says the other voice that gets closer and closer. “I’m Do Kyungsoo, nice to meet you Junmyeon-ssi.”

Jumyeon slowly puts down his chopsticks and puts his hand out to Kyungsoo’s voice direction. “Nice to meet you too, Kyungsoo-ssi.”

He thinks that Kyungsoo is also quite tiny as the hand that grabs his own is quite small. Another friends in common ground brings little smile of satisfaction to Junmyeon.

“Me too! Shake hand with me too!” says butcher Chanyeol. Junmyeon thinks that the owner of old-man voice is perhaps a six years old kid.

“Since the recess won’t be over in another fifteen minutes, shall I take you to the cafeteria so you won’t eat alone with this asshole?” offers Kyungsoo completely ignoring his friend.

“Let me take you there!”

Junmyeon gasps as a strong big hand pulls his tiny one and puts it on an overly high place. A strong, wide shoulder and overly tall body is the first thing on Junmyeon list of why he hates Park Chanyeol in the future. He estimates that he’s at least as tall as Chanyeol’s neck and it gets him irritated... a lot…

At least I make friends… sort of?

***

Everyday Junmyeon’s family makes sure to ask him if he’s having a great day at school. They asks him such details as his friends’ name, where do they live, how are their grades, have the had sex(it’s his brother’s). Junmyeon usually answers with basic things such as ‘fine’, ‘okay’, ‘yeah’, etc. Despite his calm attitude, Junmyeon is actually pretty happy to be in that school. So far, everyone has been good and polite to him. He mingles a bit awkwardly but quite well according to his social life standard. There’s just one thing, actually one person that bothers him a lot.

Park-Chan-Yeol

That giant is actually quite cool and nice since he’s not that typical dummy dummy. You know, those class clowns who’s a clown not because their humor sense but because they make everyone laughs by competing in who can eat more spicy instant ramen and end up throwing up their acids. Chanyeol’s jokes are quite funny and make sense. He actually studies well in class, even though he teases their teachers a lot. Those teachers seem to be quite affectionate toward his certain classmate too, in response. Not to add that the boy is actually very kind and warm-hearted towards everyone.

Junmyeon needs Park Chanyeol to stop doing only two things. First, reminding him five-six times a day of how huge their height differences are. The boy seems enjoying calling Junmyeon ‘tiny’ or ‘fluffy’ while suffocate him in his hugs. Second, flirting with him when he doesn’t mean to. Let’s say Junmyeon is curious enough of why Kyungsoo enjoys torturing Chanyeol so much and decides to ask around for some background stories. He gets lots of information from Minseok’s boyfriend, Luhan, who apparently is the ‘gossip-girly boy’ in Soo Man High. So the story goes like this. Chanyeol is close with Kyungsoo for some times, calling him with affectionate nicknames and teasing him a lot. Many people even predict that they’re going to be a couple soon. Sadly, Kyungsoo finds out that he’s also flirting with other’s class pretty boy called Jongin, and Chanyeol does that while he’s still in ‘unofficial relationship’ with another boy from Kyungsoo’s choir club, Baekhyun. Needless to say, Chanyeol almost gets killed by those boys(except Jongin who is cold toward Chanyeol’s advances from the beginning). Since then, he gets infamous as an ultimate playboy.

Junmyeon is kind of disappointed. He never has someone who has crushes on him before. It’s just nice to know that there’s someone who likes you romantically. He never thinks of having relationship in details, but Junmyeon can’t lie that sometimes he wonders how does it feel to be kissed lovingly under the rain, or just going on dates to musical, or… Maybe he’s brother is right when he tells Junmyeon that he spends too much on expensive braille-romance novels.

Yet Chanyeol doesn’t stop asking him to go to movies, or to eat pasta in his mother’s Italian restaurant, or to have coffee and see him performing live in his father’s café, or just let him walk Junmyeon home. Junmyeon is good at self-control, so he always refuse. He tells himself that his heart has already been broken even not romantically for so many times. He doesn’t need another kind of broken-heart.

“So we’re going to have barbeque in Luhan’s house tonight,” says Jongdae one day. “Wanna come?”

Junmyeon likes meat and he never goes to barbeques other than his family’s, so he said yes right away. His family is however more excited than himself. His mother prepares him a brand new shirt and vest sweater, wipes his walking stick and lets him wears his father’s expensive leather shoes. His hyung offers to drop-pick him with his car, and when his father gets home, he tells Junmyeon’s brother to move a box full of raw beef to his car so Junmyeon can share it with his friend.

“This is too much, my friends will laugh at me!” protests Junmyeon as he pouted his lips. He felt like being treated as a kid and he love-hates that.

Nevertheless, his friends are totally happy with the beef box and they can handle on not commenting on Junmyeon’s attires.

“You never told me you’re freaking rich!” protests Luhan. “Shall I become professor too?”

Junmyeon shrugs as he stands doing nothing while Kyungsoo pouring sparkling waters into wine glasses. He’s not in Luhan’s class, so he never knows how the boy studies. He shouldn’t be the one to judge Luhan’s capability.

“Hey, we need more charcoals!” shouts Minseok who’s currently struggling to lit up the fire. “Could someone take it from the garage?”

“I can,” offers Junmyeon. He doesn’t want his friends to baby him and let him doing nothing.

Jongdae who’s preparing the plastic cutleries asks him with worried tone, “Are you sure? I can do that, you know.”

“I’ll help the little guy,” says Chanyeol who just gets back from washing the vegetables. He puts Junmyeon’s hand on his shoulder as he says, “Shall we go?”

Junmyeon keeps silent as he’s slowly dragged to Luhan’s back garage. His heart’s racing so hard that he feels aching on his chest. He doesn’t wish to be alone with Chanyeol, but he doesn’t want to act unreasonable. Chanyeol is kind enough to help him and it’ll be easier task together and that’s that.

“Tiny-myeon, we arrived,” says the giant. “I’m going to take a look inside that scary dark garage. Can you wait for me here?”

“I’m not going anywhere,” replies Junmyeon with barely heard voice. He waits in silence for about five minutes until he can hear Chanyeol’s breath near his face.

“It’s hellish dusty in there, Myeon. The charcoal bag is heavy, so I don’t think I can lift it here by myself,” explains Chanyeol. “So you have to go in with me, sorry.”

“Why did you say sorry?”

“I hate to get your expensive shoes ruined by the dust,” replies Chanyeol with annoyed tone. “Sorry…”

Junmyeon laughs at that unexpected answer. “No big deal! I could take them off and wash my feet later.”

So Junmyeon does take it off, which he regrets later because the ground is so cold. “Oh my, it’s icy cold!”

Chanyeol laughs a little, watching Junmyeon doing little jumps like he’s walking on fire on their way in. For who know why, the giant suddenly stops and pulls Junmyeon’s stick away from him.

“Chanyeol!! screams Junmyeon in fears.

“Have you ever wondered how does your face look?” asks Chanyeol calmly.

“… A bit…”

“My noona told me that one of her blind friends can draw people’s face by feeling them with her hand,” says Chanyeol again. “Can you?”

“I can’t draw to save my life, Chanyeol,” answers Junmyeon. “I can predict, but I’m not confident.”

“Have you ever wondered how my face looks?” asks the giant again. “Try it. I want to know your opinion.”

Junmyeon is totally confused with the request. He does it in the past, with his father, mother and brother, but never to a stranger. He tries it with his own face too. For Junmyeon, however, he could never understand why people are so obsessed with their faces. People tell him that this kind of eyes is beautiful, this kind of nose is beautiful, but for Junmyeon eyes are just eyes, nose is just nose. What makes them special for him is the fact that the eyes are his parent’s eyes, and the nose is his brother’s nose. So as he raises his left hand to reach Chanyeol’s face, he already knows that his opinion will be simply ‘beautiful’.

However, before he can reaches Chanyeol’s eyes, the other boy takes both of his hand with tender grab and pulls him closer. Their bodies are so close that Junmyeon doesn’t have any other choices than to stand on Chanyeol’s feet, who now he can feel, are also naked. Chanyeol seems not minding it as he lifts on of his feet in playful manner and embraces Junmyeon so the shorter boy’s head is right under his chin.

Junmyeon heart is beating so hard that he’s afraid it will stop functioning any moment. But he can hear, even louder than his, Chanyeol’s frantic heartbeat. He tries to recall if he ever reads a scientific article about someone who can fake his heartbeat. Can Chanyeol?

“I like you a lot…”

Junmyeon wants to cry. No one ever tells him such kind words in such warm manners.

“I think I fell in love with you.. okay, I should’ve said something better than that.”

Junmyeon wants to say something too, anything, but he finds himself no power to explain what he feels.

“Junmyeon?”

“Myeoniee, how are you feeling?”

His mother has entered his room for the umpteenth time to ask the same question. “are you sure you don’t want to go to school today?”

“I still feel nauseous, Mom,” he lies smoothly. “I think I have stomach-flu.”

“Are you sure that’s the problem?”

He can feel his bed dips as his mother sits beside him.

“Did something happen at the barbeque? You seemed so down after you got back?”

He turns his back on his mother. “It’s okay, Mom. I think I just caught cold from the windy autumn weather.”

Him mother sighs, “If you says so.”

He’s left alone to think by himself. He feels like an idiot. A love-sick idiot. He skips school and now he misses all those important lessons and the cafeteria sells the black-sesame pudding he likes so much today. Junmyeon acts like an illogical, unreasonable, irresponsible person for some puppy-love and he hates that so much. He cries under his blanket and falls asleep until few hours later, her mom shouts his name.

“Junmyeon, your friend comes to bring you some notes! Wake up!”

“Whooo..?” asks Junmyeon with hoarse voice.

“Park Chanyeol! I’m sending him upstairs!”

At the answer Junmyeon sits up and goes panic. He grabs and hugs his bunny plushie tightly and wonders if he should pretend to be asleep.

“Junmyeon? I’m coming in, okay?”

His hearts melted at that rocker-butcher voice he actually misses so much, but his body still goes rigid when he hears the sound of door being opened and that wide light steps he knows so well.

“Umm, I’m bringing you notes,” says Chanyeol as he sits on Junmyeon’s bed. “Not in braille, sorry. And I bought you puddings, you like them right? ”

Junmyeon keeps silence as he plays with his bunny’s ears.

“What his name? He’s cute?”

“...Suho,” answers Junmyeon. “My brother gave him to me so he can protect me from mean people. When I was eight years old, though.”

“Why are you clutching him so tight? You will kill him!” said Chanyeol. “Don’t say that I’m one of those mean people.”

“No, you’re not mean,” replies the shorter boy. “You’re just a playboy.”

“What???”

Junmyeon can’t believe how childish and ridiculous he sounds, “You said you love me but you played around with three people at the same time! How am I not to be upset??!”

“Junmyeon..”

He can feel Chanyeol’s breath really close to his lips. He ducks his head even more.

“I wasn’t three-timing people,” explains Chanyeol. “I had crush with Baek, but I backed down because I know he and Taeyeon had stronger things going on. I like to tease Jongin just because I admire his dancing and wish that if we become friend, he will teach me one or two tricks.”

“What about Soo?” sniffs Junmyeon. He’s on edge of crying.

“Kyungsoo is my type, to be honest. I like tiny, cute people as you may now realize. But Kyungsoo is not that cute inside, you know,” chuckles Chanyeol. “He has good reactions I can’t help to tease him.”

“Chanyeol, I’m blind,” Junmyeon blurts out.

“I know~” replies the giant. “That doesn’t make you any lesser. I’m too tall for heaven’s sake!”

Junmyeon hits Chanyeol with Suho. “That’s hardly a problem!”

“It is when you has to take subway everywhere!” says Chanyeol with playful manners. “Junmyeon, I love you. You’re cute, sexily smart, kind, and strong! You’ll be a perfect husband!”

“You’re cheesy..”

Junmyeon squeaks as Chanyeol hugs him tightly.

“Stay with me?”

“Umm… I think you’re beautiful, funny, kind of smart too, so I like you, so..”

“Yes?”

“Yes.”
