A history of Drum and Bass

May 09, 2009 12:13

This informative video is like a window into the kind of crap Tracey and I end up talking about during dinner.  It points out the absurdity of my favorite genre of music being based around a 6 second sample from 1969 and then closes with a 5 minute look at the impact of copyright law on creative growth, raising the question of whether this phenomena can be repeated.

Lately is seems that new "artists" that find a sound they like are avoiding the trap of direct sampling of other works and are instead just loading up the other musician's auto-tune presets.
