“This is my point. 60% of people who see us together probably think I’m your father. 30% think I’m your grandfather. The last 10% likely have it right, but they’re perverts.”
Brilliant.
The conversations are brilliant. I love it, I love Annie coming into it.

Gene is such a rockstar to write sometimes, he really is. I enjoy him too much.

I was very fond of:
“You’re both horrible human beings who increase my distrust in so-called civilised society.”
Gene takes a swig of his own beer and smirks. “I’ve always wanted to be that person for someone. I’ve been working at it my entire life.”
Annie glances at him, ducks her head forward demurely. “He’s not joking. I vividly remember his early attempts.”
And I am glad I had it copied, because the last few paragraphs made me shriek and collapse into a froth of cackling.
Oh, them.

Thank you! I had altogether too much fun writing them together again, which is something I am sad to say I haven't done for a long, long time.

There are hugs, and hand-holding, and gorgeously hot kisses, and not once did they step out of character for even a second. You are a genius for being able to do that. :)
Gene defending himself to Annie damn near broke me. “I love him,” Gene says, hardly above a whisper. It’s a confession he’s never intended to make. It’s a small, solid-feeling piece of him cut apart from his flesh and loosed upon the world. It hurts. I could see and hear him saying this crystal clearly, and ouch. Also, wonderful.
I lovelovelovelove the way you've written Annie in this. The ambiguity about her feelings towards Sam (she says not, but...), her and Gene ganging up on Sam, Gene thinking he keeps her around to remind him of 'such lofty aspirations', the way she so obviously cares about Gene. I'm glad she's going to continue to crop up in this series.
And finally, on a thoroughly silly note: “Did you, uh, want me to come at a pre-arranged time, or?” *sniggers* Oh, Sam. ♥

Aaaaaaaannie! I've been anticipating this chapter for... a while now. (4 fics got added to the series in place of where this chapter was going to be. This was meant to happen a lot sooner.) So when I could finally write her, I was so very pleased.
(Also, I second your, 'oh, Sam'. He is SO BLATANT, omg.)

The touching in public and the hand-holding thing thing was so sweet.

... I am so surprised I have managed to get to a point in this fic where it can conceivably be called sweet.
Thank you :D ♥

Seeing the comments above, by now you have not yet the whole chapter quoted back to you, so I cheerfully join:
"It is every single time Sam smiles at him and he forgets to breathe, because apparently he’s growing younger by a year every day and currently he’s Sam’s thirteen year old boyfriend, who draws lovehearts around S & G in bright blue glitter on all available surfaces."
No one, absolutely no one - not even you - will ever top that.
Thank you very much. Oh and - the dairy section in TESCO's will never be the same, so thank you for that too.

Thank you very much. I promise I'll never try to top that line. Sometimes it's best to sit back and say, "that can't be topped". ;)
