Another update so fast! I'm immensely happy.

Poor Gene, trying so hard, when Sam makes it so difficult. It's interesting to see Gene feeding Sam's own ideals back to him - weird, but good :-)

I am possibly the only writer in the world who's not keen on cliffhangers, to be honest.

I actually think that those ideals are something Gene and Sam both share (see the post-coital discussion in 1.02, the Harry conversation of 1.04, the bit of 1.07 where Gene said he was glad Sam would still fight, parts of 1.06, and a lot of 2.02.) Gene does have an idealistic side, which is why I looooove him.

Thank you ♥

Shame on me, I've never commented before! Love seeing updates for this. Wonderfully intriguing story, I'm not even sure what I want to happen (except a happy ending, of course ><)

Thank you :D

I, erm, can't guarantee a happy ending for all involved. Not uncomplicated happiness, that's for sure.

Gene fiddles with his slice of fruit cake, trying to determine if he could fit it all in his mouth in one go. For some reason, this makes me giggle. A lot.

“Is it really naive to expect happiness from life?”
“It is if you’re not willing to work for it.”
Okay, beginning to see this from Sam's PoV now.

“You’re the only person I’ve ever met who could say that with a straight face. Not just straight, but grumpy. It’s a wonder to behold.”
WIN. Total win.

“Yes, I loved him. I actually thought we’d be together until the day I died, which, given his propensity for being a prick who didn’t listen to reason, could be any day of the week. But, naturally, the bastard had to go and get himself killed first and I’ve never been able to forgive him.”

Sorry, I suck at commenting this morning. Very happy to see this posted and I just savoured every word like I always do when I read your writing.

That first line you quote was definitely me trying to inject some humour. That and it's seriously something I can see Gene contemplating.

♥ Thanks, Sky :D

Ohhhhh, this was delicious! And so fast! You were indeed kind not to leave us hanging very long after that last brutal cliffhanger! :D

Sam raises an eyebrow. “Interesting metaphor.”

“It’s a simile.”

THIS! >:D So excellent!

I'm impressed and amazed by Gene's strength to resist. Young!Sam is verra sexy and determined! Rowr!

I'm already eagerly awaiting more! YAY! :D

I'm usually not that cruel, usually.

I have to admit, I'm sort of impressed with Gene too. Though I do think he's only delaying the inevitable.

Thanks so much :D ♥

The magnetism they both exert on each other is showing through all the more clearly in these latest installments. I love Gene trying like hell to get away, but not trying all that hard, really, when you get right down to it. Sam's persistence is entirely Sam, for all he probably knows better, or at least knows that this is a bit mad.

And as for the "Do you want me to call you Daddy?" snipe, I cackled aloud. No, no, no, of course not, but also *hee*.

I eagerly await their next collision.

Yeah, Gene is totally useless at escape, he really is.

Oh, man, Sam. Incest is pretty much my number one squick, but the moment he said that I knew I had to keep it, especially since it helped give Gene a reason to pull back.

Thank you ♥
