I cannot recommend it highly enough. I really can't. I somehow managed to forget it while doing this meme earlier, but it's pretty much my favourite show of all time. (Well, alongside LoM and Dexter.) I watched the first series in a day, it was so compelling.
You haven't seen Dexter? This is incomprehensible to me. Everyone should watch at least one episode, if only to turn around and say "yeah, really not for me."
Oh, I've watched much of the first season. It's well-made and acted. But it was hard for me to take. It's hypocritical as I enjoy many things that feature stylized violence. I can handle reading books about serial killers. I can usually watch films. But a whole series set in Florida? Even with an "atypical" serial killer, I can't seem to watch it.
It's a bit hard to describe. I currently live in the town that Ted Bundy stalked some of his prey. I remember Danny Rolling and the fear and hysteria around the time he killed and mutilated the five students at UF. And I remember the poor kid who first falsely charged with Rolling's crimes. I remember Aileen Wuornos. Not to mention various spree killers. Or the fact that one of my best Krista's brother killed their mother when I was in high school. For no apparent reason. That happened a year before Rolling. And there are many other things, too, that would take a while to list.
It really is a series that I want to some day. But, right now, it would unsettle me too much.
Thanks, I figured you would understand. Ha, wasn't entirely sure how much sense I was making!
I will watch all of it some day, though. Probably when it ends. Because, honestly, several of my all time favorite films are much more violent than Dexter. And I did like quite a bit of it.

Dexter is a show that I will make myself watch one day. Probably not any time soon, but at some point!
