Miscellaneous OOC Info: I'm always happy to explore plot lines and interaction with anyone and everyone, so don't be shy about shooting me an IM to talk about it. Please don't do anything that'll dramatically affect my character without asking, but that goes without saying. :) I'm not interested in killing him off, and I'd prefer not to see him maimed. Trust me on this one, he has enough issues already. And the scars he does have? Have lots of meaning.

Character Information
Name:  Gilbert Nightray / Raven
Series: Pandora Hearts
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Occupation: Contractor at Pandora, Noble, Servant to Oz Vessalius

-- Minor Spoilers for Pandora Hearts Follow!! --

History: Gilbert's history starts, as far as he knows, about 15 years ago. He was found, injured and unconscious, on the grounds of the Vessalius family's property. He is taken in by the household as a servant to the eldest and only son, Oz Vessalius. Though initially fearful, Gilbert soon becomes very comfortable and fiercely dedicated to his young master. Despite the fact that Oz quite often uses Gil in some of his more mischievous plots, Gilbert grows to care very deeply for the older boy, and the two became close friends. This fact was brought to the forefront when Oz specifically invites Gil to participate in his coming of age ceremony, despite the fact that Gil is a servant as well as too young to otherwise attend.

Unfortunately, before he could overcome his flustered reaction to the invitation and his uncertainty of whether or not he deserved to attend, Gil is possessed by the chain of one of the Baskervilles. The chain controls his body and his mind, and during the ceremony he aids in the Baskervilles' infiltration and attack on Oz Vessalius, going so far as to stab his master before coming back to his senses. When he is finally back in control of himself, he steps in between Oz and one of his assailants, preventing Oz from slashing the hooded figure with a sword. Instead, Gilbert takes the blow and passes into unconsciousness. When he awakes, his master has been lost to the Abyss.

Distraught, Gilbert is persuaded to allow himself to be adopted by the Nightray household, as it may lead him to being able to acquire the chain, Raven, which could possibly help him recover Oz from the Abyss. At the Nightray manor, he meets Vincent, his younger brother of whom he has no memory. Over the next ten years, Gilbert grows up but never forgets his goal of taming Raven to get Oz back. Eventually he succeeds in contracting with Raven. Before he can manage to rescue Oz, Oz returns from the Abyss with the aid of B.Rabbit, another chain from the Abyss. Because he believes he has aligned himself with the Nightray family -- who have long been enemies of the Vessalius family -- Gilbert does not believe himself worthy of being in Oz's presence as he used to, and so he hides both the fact that 10 years have passed and his true identity from Oz, instead going by the alias Raven. Using Raven's powers, he keeps B.Rabbit's powers sealed away so they do not overwhelm Oz's body.

Eventually, Oz discovers that 10 years have passed since he disappeared into the Abyss, though for him it has been a much shorter time. Gilbert's identity is also revealed to Oz. Despite initially running from the now-younger-boy, Gilbert once more pledges to always remain by Oz's side as his servant. Along with Oz and Alice, Gilbert helps to search fo Alice's memories and the answers behind Oz's banishment to the Abyss.

More and more continues to come to light about Gilbert's past and his origins that he no longer remembers.

Personality: As a child, Gilbert was a bit of a crybaby. He was afraid of getting in trouble, though he often found himself as Oz's accomplice, despite his protests. Gil was fiercely dedicated and protective of Oz, even as a child, and could not stomach the idea of failing him or allowing him to be hurt. Before the events that ended in Oz's banishment to the Abyss, Gil was very emotional and easily flustered. He continually tried to be responsible, but often failed due to his apparent inability to say no to his young master.

After Oz's disastrous coming of age ceremony, Gilbert's personality begins to change drastically. As an adult, Gilbert, who sometimes goes by the name Raven, seems to be very serious and stoic. He is purpose-driven and does not have much patience for nonsense. He is quiet and rather aloof to most people that he meets, though he retains a soft spot for Oz's younger sister. His shame at his perceived betrayal of the Vessalius household keeps him constantly avoiding any encounters with Oscar Vessalius, the man who initially found him and brought him into Oz's service.

Once Oz has returned from the Abyss, it becomes apparent that Gilbert has not changed nearly as much as he would have the world believe. He is still quite easily flustered, especially where his blond master is concerned. He argues frequently with Alice, often over insignificant things and quite loudly expresses his opinion of Break at times. Though many years have passed, Gilbert still cares deeply for Oz, and is the first by the blond boy's side when he returns from the Abyss. He is dedicated to keeping Oz safe and is often concerned about him, especially when Oz chooses to display his typical disregard for his own safety and well-being. Though he no longer smiles as readily and as easily as he used to, the expression does creep over his face more and more, especially in Oz's presence.

Gilbert cannot hold his liquor, at all. He is something of a lightweight, and tends to become very emotional, and much more vocal about his emotions in this inebriated state.

Despite his best attempts at playing the calm, collected bad ass, Gilbert retains many of his past insecurities, often being afraid to be left behind entirely. He is terrified of cats for no reason anyone can quite discern, but that people exploit regardless.
