[ she turns on the feed, running a hand through her hair as she prepares what she wants to say. ]It has come to my attention that there are quite a few different people here, more so, even, than when I was last here. I’m glad to see so many people can, and are, getting along in spite of it, or perhaps because of it. Really, we ought to be ( Read more... )

[The subject of equality amongst non-human sapients is one that interests a man who has a personal stake in such matters.]

... Wh-why is it... simply limited to vampires...? Are there not... o-other non-human sapients who... deserve equality in Luceti...?

[He's more curious about the fact that it's for a species that, so far, feels relatively uncommon in Luceti. Perhaps it's simply that he doesn't talk to the right people.

... Well, that, and one of his closest friends is a Watcher for a Slayer. He hasn't heard the nicest things about vampires.]

Because I thought it was a good start. Yes, there are others who deserve the same thing and I'd like to work towards giving it to them someday. But you can't try to do it all at once or it won't go anywhere. That's why I chose one this time and next time I'll choose another to add on.

[That seems... like an odd sentiment to Robert. Partial equality?]

... I s-suppose it is good to... have somewhere to b-begin from. But... I w-would wonder whether it... would not be better to find the worst-afflicted groups f-first...

... Are vampires held in such... p-poor esteem, here, overall?

[... He really wouldn't know.]

They are as far as I've heard. What groups do you think ought to have something like this?

It may be... b-best to take some sort of... s-survey. I heard talk of a potential census awhile back, but... I am uncertain if that is... s-still in operation...

[... Though Robert can definitely think of a few non-humans he's quite close to.]

I'll see what I can do about that. I'd like to know, not just for S.A.V.E.

... Many of the n-non-human sapients in L-Luceti are... very hominid in form. In m-multiple cases I... was unable to distinguish them from other hominids...

... Th-that is quite rare, in the m-multiversion I come from.

Which is also my point. Why should we judge people based on what they are, especially when often times we can't tell if someone is human, vampire, or other just by looking at them? What really matters is the kind of person they are, whether they're trying to kill or protect or just live peacefully.

I... th-thoroughly agree. [Though even visible non-human sapients deserve these basic rights.] Those are... p-principles that ought to be extended to... all sapients.

And that is... the p-policy on Terra.

Is Terra your homeworld?

Yes, it is... [The homeworld that he misses, after almost a year.]

... I... u-understand it differs... significantly from the m-majority of worlds, here.

I've found that's very true about everyone's worlds. They're all quite different from each other. Do you mind if I ask you what it's like there?

Not at a-all...

W-What would you like to know, in p-particular...?

[Because there is a lot of things he could cover...]

... Or sh-should I... give a generalized overview...?

Anything you would like to tell me. I find it fascinating to compare the different worlds.

Ah, w-well then... [... Hermoine might want to write this down, because he's going to ramble.]

... T-Terra is... a very technological world, far more a-advanced than the one here. Primarily, it is a culture... b-based on the acquisition of scientific knowledge, of e-exploring logic and reason, and of... p-protecting the integrity of the Terran environment...

... Th-things such as political boundaries are... n-non-existent, and... v-violence is... highly stigmatized, to the point that w-wars no longer exist... [... Though yes, he understands (partially) the problem with this. In fact, he is beginning to slowly comprehend many of the issues his world has.

Doesn't stop him from sounding a little proud, anyway.]

It sounds like a society that was at least trying to be good. [ and that she can respect. ] So you did like living there?
