25th Gryffindor Note [Action/Voice]

[ Hermione's been thinking about the DA and what Xion talked to her about a few days ago. As far as she's concerned, it's high time the DA's started to get actively involved in Luceti. It's high time they became protectors and not just a secret society. So, for all you DA members (check the OOC post), she's looking out for you all to talk to you.

*da people, fishing for intellectuals, .xion, the insufferable know-it-all, always prepared, question for the masses, because i'm brilliant that's why, need answers, hermione's knowledge saves lives, when in doubt go to the library, things never end well for us, research time, things have gotten interesting, luceti will never stop surprising me

Yes, absolutely yes to both. Why would you not if it was to protect someone?

I suppose if it would endanger someone else, but even then, I'd likely try to save both somehow.

Do you know the chances of it hurting someone else?

This is all hypothetical. That's a good question anyway. Suppose you have two scenarios. One, if you try to protect someone who couldn't defend himself as well and was in immediate danger, there's a 95% chance someone else will get hurt from it, but you'd be able to help them out later. Or two, that chance to help the second person later didn't exist.

[Yes, she's aware of how difficult this question is. She's not sure she could make this decision without extenuating circumstances... and she still feels guilty about Tonks' father's death and Dean and Griphook getting caught when they could have done something to help.]

Is the person who can't defend himself really that important? I mean, to hurt others. That's an awfully big thing to do for one person.

[He's honestly very curious about this. He thinks she's being ridiculous, though he's hiding that and being polite to her.]

[Softly:] I suppose it would depend on the extenuating circumstances, wouldn't it?

Definitely. If you're risking such things, this person has to very important, hmm? Otherwise some might take it as selfish that you want to hurt someone else for this person's safety.

Of course, I don't think that way and I doubt anybody else feels that way. But, well, humans. Always assuming.

It's good to keep these sorts of things in mind. [And she appreciates someone who can think like this!]

I don't believe we've met. I'm Hermione Granger.

It is, isn't it?

[Though he hardly does.]

No, I don't believe we have. Forgive me for not introducing myself sooner. I am Count Waltz, Miss Granger.

Someone who can think through several different scenarios is very valuable to any team.

It's all right. I didn't introduce myself earlier, either. It's nice to meet you, Count Waltz.

Oh yes, definitely. I agree with that completely.

Yes, but it's still good manners to introduce yourself when you just start to suddenly talk to them, is it not? But yes, a pleasure to meet you as well.

I suppose we're both at fault, in that case. [Though she sounds amused rather than offended.] I'm happy to meet anyone who is as polite as you are.

It's a little frightening if it isn't very common you meet somebody as polite as me.

Common or not, it's nice to see. I only wish everyone would be.

Unfortunately the world can be very cruel and humans can be very unfeeling.
