[it's a while before she responds.]

Everything's fine! I didn't mean to worry anyone. I just found my cat.

I thought that you sounded excited, but I couldn't be certain. I'm glad everything is all right.

Everything's fine. I never thought animals from home might arrive here.

Sir Catherine was just speaking of the possibility, earlier... but I hadn't imagined that it would happen so soon.

Neither had I. But here he is. I wonder if any others have turned up.

...Did you have a pet back home?

If they haven't, it's likely just a matter of time.

Hm? No, we didn't have one. It wasn't exactly practical, even if we did end up staying in Iselia for a while.

I suppose so if Catherine really promised. He seems to deliver on a lot of these sorts of things. [Not that she approves entirely of him, but hey... points for the guy.]

I suppose that makes sense. You were traveling a lot?

For a while, yes. And even when we were settled for a little while, there just... wasn't any time to really consider having a pet.

I had to leave Crookshanks with Ron's family because Harry, Ron, and I were traveling. It really isn't practical to have pets in that situation, though I missed him terribly.

We wouldn't have had anyone to leave one with, so I suppose it worked out.

It sounds like he was quite a companion to you.

Probably for the better that you didn't have to worry about it.

He was. I really missed him while we were gone and once I heard that Ron's family had had to move, I wasn't sure if they'd been able to take him. I can't imagine Ron's mum willingly leaving him to fend for himself, but sometimes it's difficult to make sure you've got everything when you're forced to leave quickly with little preparation.

Perhaps so.

I'm sure that if she knew how important he was to you, she would have done the best she could in the situation.

Mrs. Weasley is a sweet woman. She always took care of Harry and me when we needed it, even though we weren't her children. I'm sure she probably took Crookshanks with them. She wouldn't have left him.

From what you've told me about her before, I'm certain that's true. You were very lucky.

Yes... we all were. She's been like a second mother to me over the years.
