[So it's been a month that Hermione hasn't really come out of her room aside from school and eating. But it's been obvious that she's been preoccupied with something this entire time. However, when asked she's simply brushed it off as nothing. Or she's working on a spell. Or something similar. But she wouldn't give a straight answer and waved off

[Ron was sleeping. Mostly. Because, y'know, not really talking to Hermione for a while and being stuck in a new place with no real way of getting home and all, it just sort of makes for lots of sleepless nights, leading to random naps whenever he could manage them. So when he hears Hermione's voice breaking through his sleep, he stumbles out of his room, disoriented and torn between being concerned and being irritated.]

Wha-... whazzit, what's going on?

[She wheels around to face him, looking bright and happy, kinda like she's just gotten full marks on her N.E.W.T.s or something.]

I figured something out, Ron! I think I may have discovered a way to translate a Disarming Charm to other magic!

[Action] Woo~

[Ron's just going to blink at Hermione here, caught between being blinded by her joy and trying to sort through his own confusion. Because honestly? He's not getting a word of what she just said.]

O... kay. That's, uh... that's good, I guess.

Yes! It means we can help other people protect themselves the way we do. It'll be better for everyone.

[She's going to peer at him for a second, though.]

You aren't taking in a word I'm saying, are you?

[Ron looks appropriately offended by that allegation.]

Of course I am! I said it was good, didn't I?

[action] ♥ WAY TO FAIL SELF - clearly I need more sleep

[Hermione looks like she's not entirely sure what to make of him right now.]

Thanks. I just thought that other people who have different magic ought to know spells that might protect them better. Elemental magic isn't easy to manipulate under normal circumstances.

[action] Sleep? What's that? I haven't had any of that since I started working. :/

[This is Ron, trying to quickly recollect everything she'd just said and string it together into something that makes sense.]

So you've figured out a way, then?

[action] I have no idea. I haven't had any since April started.

Yes! [And she looks pleased that he's figured it out.]

Let me show you. Just hold something in your hand, your wand or something. [And she's going to set hers off to the side so he can't accuse her of using it.]

[action] I get to do it tomorrow, but I'll probably spend most of the night roleplaying.

[He has no idea what she's getting at, since he's yet to see any of Luceti's special brand of magic. So he's going to do his best to repress his skeptical glance before going into his back pocket and getting out his wand.]

[action] I was going to today but my body decided to keep me up til 2 and wake me at 7 /sob

[She just ignores the skepticism. Used to it, much? She takes a deep breath, concentrates on that wand in his hand, and casts.]

Expelliarmus! [Her wand doesn't seem to do anything, but from her hand, a stream of wind careens towards Ron's hand, sliding behind it and then... with luck, that wand is going soaring out of his hand.]

[action] I fell asleep at 2am, too! But slept 'til noon. And now it's time for bed again.

[Ron just sort of whips his head around to follow the wand as it flies out of his hand before clattering to the floor. Looking back at Hermione, he's got his rather standard expression of confusion on his face.]

So you can do wandless disarming spells now?

[action] Yay for sleeping well!

It's not wandless magic! It's Filial magic! There's a difference!

[Gdit Ron, why can't you understand this? She looks quite hurt.]

[action] Or at least sleeping at more normal hours. Except for the "waking up at 4am for work" thing

[asdskldj No exclamation points! They make Ron flustered!] Well, as I don't know the difference, I can't rightfully spot the difference, can I?

[Yeah well he shouldn't fluster her :(]

It's a different type of magic. We don't have anything that uses wind like this. [And she'll create a small burst of wind that's more like a tiny dust storm. It's actually kind of translucent as it spirals in the air between them.] That's what I used.

[action] I just woke up from a two-hour nap and I'm still exhausted, baww DX

[He never does! It's always the other way around.

He's just gonna blink at her, btw. That new magic is weird, but... well:] Magic's magic, though, isn't it? Other than not needing a wand, it's not much different from the normal stuff, right?

[action] sob I just woke up from actual nighttime sleep and I'M still tired DX

Yes, but the function's different. [At least this she can work with.] Our magic has a specific structure within the spell design. For instance, the Levitation Charm is designed to slide under something and push it upwards. Wind magic doesn't work like that normally. It's supposed to deal damage from what I can tell, hurt its target in some way. I'm trying to manipulate the other magic so that it works like our magic.
