Why would someone....

[Eh, nevermind. She gets it.]

Hm. My place has them, as well. Some changes I've seen before, but I don't recognize everything.

You'd be surprised what people will do.

This is called electricity. It'll make our lives so much easier.

I've seen electricity before, but not some of these kitchen items. What's the small box, with all the buttons?

It might be a toaster. Are there two long slits at the top, about large enough for a slice of bread?

Pull one of the smaller new appliances away from the wall. Connecting the appliance to the wall should be a thin black cord. Where the cord plugs into the wall there should be a thin rectangular shape. That's an outlet. If you pull the base of the cord hard enough, it'll come apart from the outlet. Just be sure not to put anything in the outlet. It won't feel good.

[Well of course it is. Hermione's almost never wrong.] Yes, but what type and where it is, I'm not sure. [Her voice trails off as she glances outside.]

Well good for you, then. I just thought I'd give a warning in case other people have never seen electricity before.

Yeah. My sister isn't quite used to the stuff yet. I think it's neat and very useful.

It takes time, but it's very useful. I hope it stays for a while.

[If she weren't genuinely worried, she'd yell at you... oh wait, this is Hermione. Her "genuinely worried" translates into yelling.]

I said don't do that!
