Well, I've got a few things, but I'd like to know anything and everything I can. Mostly, I was wondering about the books, what topics they cover so I know where to start.

If you're interested in learning, you're also welcome to attend the school. Though the library is a good place to start, when you're just starting out. Unfortunately it doesn't cover very much on this world itself, though it does have mostly a selection of literature from where people are brought from.

I was planning on doing that. When does the school start? And the library has literature from other worlds? Do you mean practical things like encyclopedias, fiction, or both?

A mixture of both, to some degree. It's not very researcher friendly, but we make do.

Of course. My best friends from home never quite understood that you never know when you might need to know something, so it's always best to have done the research before you need to.
