Okay, so I know it's been forever since I've posted here - well 6 months anyways, but I felt the urge tonight since Dexter finally came to a close. I've been a fan of Dexter ever since the first episode aired 8 years ago and I'm still a fan after watching the series finale a few times tonight. Outside of the DVD sets and 4 of the soundtracks I have the villian shot glasses released this year and a Dexter fleece throw, so I do have fandom love there.
The last episode aired tonight and made me cry, made me think, made me a little annoyed, but it still made me respect the creators that they ended this show on their terms. Knowing before last season the show would be ending this year I speculated a lot on how the show could end and I am pleased the actual ending isn't one I thought of (however I joked about it about 5 minutes before the show ended and that joke turned out real). With all that said it makes me sad so many "fans" have been ripping up the end of the series and thanking the creators for wasting the last 8 years for them. Now I know better than anyone that with social media and the internet it's far too easy to rag on things and publish hate over praise but seeing all these comments makes me sad. I've had a lot of shows I love end and not all of them have a good ending, but the ending never makes me hate what came before it. While I wanted something different for Dexter I still love the show and will always see it as one of my favorite shows.
I'm not sure how many people in LJ still read my journal let alone have me friended that are still here but if anyone is here and would like to discuss the series feel free to in the comments :) Because I have seen all 96 episodes spoilers can be discussed in the comments so people who don't want spoilers be warned.
