Life update - of a kind
I wanted to apologize for the kind of silent treatment I've been giving LJ lately, well silent outside of posting about my Sidney kitty. Which I should mention that she's doing a lot better. She's been acting more like herself and isn't sick anymore, still has meds to take, and unfortunately still being really picky with food. But she's doing a lot better - which is honestly helping with my stress level quite a bit.
Part of the disappearing act I pulled was due to having family in town over Labor Day weekend. It was a fun visit and definitely over due since the last handful of visits had been to deal with my grandpa's house. So this was strictly fun and relaxation - although since family was up my three day weekend kind of went out the window since I was getting up early and had fairly busy days. Our town has an annual rib cook off every summer, I haven't been since high school, and I ended up going twice with my family while they were here. It was fun and we got a lot of good food and some other goodies (including a new thumb ring) but it did remind me that for me, as a local, it isn't something I need to do unless someone from out of town is here. Cause there's just mass people insanity.
Then during the end of my family's visit is when Sidney started getting sick - although my kitty actually made me think I was going to lose her instead of thinking she was sick. So during the work week I was dealing with us being short handed (people on vacation) and my kitty being sick. My work week only ended up being Tuesday-Thursday because I took Friday off as a vacation day for myself to attend my second anime con for the year, SNAFU (Sierra Nevada Anime Fans Unite) Con 2011 - it's the second year of the local anime convention and it ran from Friday through today (Sunday). So yeah, can I just say that it's been a couple of busy weekends and week? I'm kinda sad knowing that tomorrow I have to go back to work and I'm sure it will feel like a long week after having a really short one this week.
As for SNAFU con it was fun, definitely minimal in comparison to AX, but it was fun. I'm still disappointed that I can't seem to ever get anyone to go with me. Especially when it's an inexpensive and in town and I have friends that live here and like anime. But oh well, I had the same problem last year. This year it took me awhile to get into 'photographer' mode, which I think is a mixture of taking tons of pictures at AX this year and a lot of the cosplayers at SNAFU this year were kind of...amature-ish and didn't really seem into posing for pictures. But I did get some good ones :) Also got some swag, really small haul compared to my July stuff but the dealer and artist alley are smaller and more limited. After all the vendor/dealer room only had 5 dealers - so that says a lot. But I did get some goodies and the two panels I attended turned out to be awesome. I'll post a more in depth recap and pictures later this week.
Oh and I guess I should mention too that the weekend before my family came down we ended up adding two new kitties to our house hold. They are brother and sister, Winston (boy) and Trophy (girl), that my parents adopted from our local humane society. Both of the kitties are older but are big loves. So yeah, that's kind of been another thing on top of being short at work, family, Sidney, and con. Can I just say I'm looking forward to life slowing down a little? Especially after some of the other things that have been going on since July. The next fun thing though I think coming up will be Yaoi-Con in October - something else busy but hopefully fun :)
But now I think it's time to end this and get to bed. Tomorrow morning will come far too early *hugs*
