AX 2011 The Swag Edition - Image heavy!

Jul 17, 2011 22:03

So this will be the last picture post from my vacation. As always it's time to show off the swag I managed to come home with :) Everything below, minus a couple items, were picked up at AX. This is more just showing how much of a geek I am. But since I started this and kept up with it, I feel it's tradition :)

Teaser:

AX 2011 Swag

First up is the Fullmetal Alchemist art book I picked up :) This is the third manga art book that has been released - I have the first two but they are the hard back English releases. I was really hoping to find this at the convention for a decent price, which I did :) It was one of my purchases after leaving the Vic Mignogna autograph line of insanity.

Next up are the only manga that I bought myself while on vacation. I have picked up a few since getting back *hides* but I managed to get all 5 of these yaoi for $32, which I was stoked about since 3 of them haven't been available to buy from Amazon for months.

It should be no surprised that since I was on a Durarara!! kick that I would be bringing home quite a bit of merchandise as well. The bag has Shizuo on it and I actually picked it up with my FMA art book. It was the last one the merchant had and they took it off the wall for me. Personally I have far too many bags and not enough to do with them but it was pretty cheap :) And the little plushie is Michael Myers XD I really didn't expect to see him there but had been eyeing him for awhile online. My dad had told me they were doing Michael, Jason, and Freddy like this a few months ago - which the merchant that had this actually had them all but I love Michael. I got this right before leaving the convention for the last time on Sunday night. Eventually he'll come out of the bag but for now I left him into avoid kitty fur clinging to him.

Unlike last year I didn't come home with too many "big" items or a lot of figures. But I did manage to come home with a few. First we have a FMA clock that I bought cause I LOVE the art on it. Talk about having almost all of my favorite characters on one thing, can't ask for more having Roy, Hughes, and Havoc all on one thing and thankfully it works with a simple AA battery :) Only downside with the clock is that it ticks rather loudly. Next up is my Phantom: Requiem of the Phantom Ein figure. I never really planned on getting any of the figures for this anime (even though I really like it) because they never did both main characters. But typically Figma figures are really pricey and the merchant I bought it from was discounting it because they had an overstock at their store. So I picked her up. Then finally I bought one blind box figure - Lilo & Stitch of all things >.< What can I say, I love Stitch?

This is the back of Ein's figure to let you see all the positions you can put her in. Right now I still have her in the box mainly because I don't have anywhere to display her at the moment. She'll stay in the box until then too - way too many pieces to potentially lose.

Some randoms here, my Yaoi flag I bought when I picked up my new doujinshi. The little package on the left is a Gloomy Bear figure I got, it's really little and he's grey with blood on him :) I thought it was cute and he might eventually go live with me at work on my desk there, right now he's on my computer desk at home. Then I have the 2 doujinshi I bought - one new xxxHolic one and a Durarara!! one. I was really hoping to pick up some FMA doujinshi, especially hoping for some Roy/Hughes, but when I looked at what was available was either Ed/Al or Ed/Roy. Which I mean I do read some Ed/Roy stuff but I'm definitely more of a Roy/Hughes shipper.

Which will show with the new yaoi fan badge I bought *g* I usually get a couple fan badges from the same artist each year, this year I got the Roy/Hughes one and the world's greatest dad Hughes badge. Also in this picture is my badge for entering the convention and a Nightmare Before Christmas badge I got in the artist alley. This guy does all pencil drawings and is really elaborate, the Nightmare badge is actually double sided and I bought a few more pieces from the artist as well.

This is the back of my convention badge with my DRRR!! autograph signing ticket and the back of the Nightmare Before Christmas badge :)

When I bought the DRRR!! DVD set to get my autograph ticket this is the bag they gave me for my purchase. I have to admit that I'm glad the guy that sold me my DVD told me I should take the bag since it had my show :) This is the side with Izaya.

And the other side with Shizuo.

And my free poster I got with my purchase as well :) The weekend before the convention DRRR!! started playing on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, which is what the poster is promoting but I'm impressed cause it's a full sized poster.

This was actually the first fan art I bought this year in the artist alley :) I had to since it had my Shinra and Shizuo on it :) The fact Izaya is in the mix is very secondary. Izaya isn't one of my favorite characters.

Now this is a fanart that I picked up for my parents as part of their anniversary gift. I already gave it to them because I didn't want to try and hide it for a month but they are both Peanuts fans and big Star Wars fans and it was really cute :) My friend actually picked it up for me on Sunday when I was at my panel because I wasn't sure I'd have time. I guess the artist was giving away free prints with the purchase of a color so my friend picked some prints out for me.

This is the same artist as above, my friend picked out both Resident Evil prints the guy had for me as my freebies :)

The other Resident Evil print.

And the last print she picked out for me - Oggie and Jack kind of doing a Jason vs Freddy pose :)

This is the one thing I didn't buy at AX while I was down in LA. I actually picked this up my last day in LA, Rin: Daughters of the Mnemosyne. Personally I've never seen it before but the cover really drew me in.

My Shizuo figure :D *happy dance* I picked this up on the first day at the convention and was really giddy to find it. When I went to the convention I was really hoping to find a Shizuo figure - he has two that I know of so I was hoping one of them would be acceptable. Sadly I never found anyone selling the Celty figure from the same series - but thankfully I have one in transit to me now so Shizuo will have a friend.

Few more art prints I picked up from the artist alley, two separate artists. The first is Ciel and Alois from Black Butler 2 and the second one is Nana from Nana.

My first FMA fan art bought at a con :) Mainly because this time last year I wasn't into FMA, go figure ;) The artist had this as a 11x14 but I went for the smaller print because I have better luck finding a place to hang a 8x10 then a 11x14. I just love the contrast with the wings in comparison to Ed's natural appearance.

Fee more artist alley goodies. The little devil was a freebie one of the artist was giving out, I ended up hooking it on my badge from the convention since there was an extra hook on the badge. The other bookmarks are Ciel and Sebastian from Black Butler.

These are all the freebies I ended up picking up from Funimations booth. Most of them are just post cards for things they have coming out.

Now this is personally my prize artist alley purchase. I LOVE this print, I can't really explain it. I'm kind of leaning toward getting this one a nice professional frame so I can display it :)

Okay, now these are the other blind buy items I bought. These are really fancy pencil board art cards for D.Gray-Man. I was looking at the back and the possibilities and was kind of hoping that if I bought 2 I'd get lucky and at least get one with Lavi on it. There was one with Lavi by himself and a couple that had him with other characters. Typically my luck isn't on my side with blind buys but they weren't horribly expensive and I figured what the hell. Well when I got to the hotel and opened the first one I squealed pulling Lavi by himself. In D.Gray-Man next to Lavi Kanda is my favorite character. So what do I end up seeing when I open the second, Kanda by himself *happy dance* These are so pretty too. I'm trying to decide how to display these as well since you have 2 cards per set, one is more of an art paper and the other is a plastic half see through card to place over it.

This picture is to show how they kind of slide apart. Also Kanda is on the left and Lavi is on the right just in case you don't know :) But just yay!!! So happy I got the two cards I really wanted :D

Now these are the other art pieces I bought from the artist that did the Nightmare badge. The first is a Soul Eater cast shot and then obviously Jack Skellington :) He was really friendly too when I was talking to him.

Okay these are clear stand up figures for DRRR!! for Izaya and Shizuo. I bought Shizuo when I got my figure of him earlier during the convention and after the autograph session I decided to go back and get Izaya - cause it just felt like I needed him to go with Shizuo. Guess it was meant to be cause I ended up buying the last Izaya >.< That seemed to happen to me a lot this year.

After taking pictures I finally put my Lilo & Stitch figure I got from my blind box together. These were made by Square Enix, which always makes great figures, so I was pleased. This has since jointed my other Stitch figures I have :)

Shizuo out of the box and standing in his angry glory :)

Also I do still have this wallscroll but I have it in my closet. Since the convention I did pick up another DRRR!! wallscroll that is hung up by my bed :) I just have to wait awhile before I put this one up because it's so long.

Please do not hotlink.

And with that ends the July vacation pictures :)
