WonderCon 2010: Post 2: Exhibition Hall & Swag -- Image Heavy!

Apr 05, 2010 17:01

So here is post 2. Right now I am shooting for this to be a 3 part post, so this one has a mixture of things in it. Some swag type things, some pictures of things from the exhibition hall, and some swag not from the con :) So it is image heavy for people with slower comps.

So for WonderCon they basically have a few rows back in the artist alley of the exhibtion hall were you can meet stars, pay for autographs, get photos, etc. Well I ended up going here almost right after I got there cause one of the stars they were supposed to have Shawnee Smith (aka Amanda from Saw). I really wanted to get her autograph and when I got there the row she was in was really busy, but not her booth - yay! So I got to meet her and get her autograph :D

And the item I took with me to get signed was my special edition limited case DVD for the first Saw :D

And a picture without the flash of the autograph below.

I got to chat with her for a little bit, so that was fun. Though honestly sometimes I hate talking to celebrities cause I know they're just people, so I don't usually rave about their work, then I feel kind of stupid too *face palm* But she was very nice. When I first got there she was eating lunch and I asked when I could come back and she told me there was no need for that and wanted to know what I had for her :) So very nice experience. I'm sure I was a more mild fan considering how horror fans can get.

And now for some general pictures I took around the exhibition hall. Some I will give comments for, others I won't.

The picture above and the one before that were for one of the artist's selling work there. I didn't look at all of their prints but just the examples on the back - definitely caught my eye walking around.

Now this artist was a plesant surprise. I actually have bought from this artist of Etsy. So when I rounded the corner I knew the artwork right away. I was really surprised to see the artist selling at WonderCon - but I was able to get the print I've never managed to get off Etsy cause it sells out so fast :D

And the gentleman in the vest is Cody Vrosh. He was impressed when I told him about the large print of his I have framed at home, especially when I told him I bought it off Etsy :)

Thought this was cool. The Iron Man suit (not full sized) was at a graphic art design display. I took some pictures of the other figures they had but won't upload them. Considering most were of the muscle/skeleton system of humans (with some anatomical parts still there) I don't want to risk them getting pulled off.

For some reason seeing a row of Sheldon's at a comic convention just made me snicker.

One of the Merlot's waitresses serving True Blood - which is really really good XD I had samples throughout the whole weekend. Now I want to try and find some I can buy somewhere.

I just thought this picture was too cute to pass up on posting :D

And now for some swag :D Always have to get swag ;) I think I took a picture of everything I bought except for the two D.Gray-Man Kanda posters I bought. Mainly cause I spaced on them last night when I was showing my mom everything I brought home *face palm*

A WonderCon exclusive figure - at least I'm assuming since I never heard about this before. But it's a Night of the Living Kev action figure :D Kevin Smith all zombie - what is not to love? :D I bought this on Friday first thing and have it hanging up on the wall by my computer desk right now. I also thought it was kind of fitting because I saw some of Kevin Smith's Q&A Friday night at the convention as well.

This little guy is actually something I didn't buy at the convention. But I found him when I went to Japan-town to go to a book store they have there that I wanted to visit. He was in the display window of the stationary store I got him in. He's called a Skull Gnome :D So cute.

This is the art print I bought from Cody Vrosh. I've wanted to get this print since I got my zombie one. I was excited to see it on his stand to buy :D He signed the back of the frame for me as well.

Now these are some other art prints I bought from one of the artist's there. I've never seen her work before but I did ask for a card because I liked it so much. These are each 5.5 x 5.5 art cards she was selling. She signed all three of them for me. I don't know what it is...they just really appeal to me. She had larger prints but they were full color and the black and white with a touch of color just grabbed me more.

The few anime figures I bought at WonderCon. I knew there wouldn't be as much anime there considering it's mainly comics, but I was expecting to find a bit more. I bought Kallen in her bunny suit from Code Geass and then I bought 3 blind box Claymore figures. I got one that I wanted, two (ironically of the same Claymore) that I don't want. One was an alternate silver figure though. So I guess there was that :)

These are things I did not buy at the convention. I bought these at the book store I visited in Japan-town :D Three new pretty yaoi art books - woot!

And I also bought this at the book store as well. A Black Butler pencil board, it's like buying a pack of cards, you don't know when one you get til you open it. I was just happy to have Sebastian on it :D

And finally this is the last art print I bought from the convention. The artist does a number of things with what she calls her "littlest vampires." Seeing the look on the cat's face had me sold on buying this :D

And that's it for this post...zombie edition is next :D
