CHARACTER NAME: Johann Skull
FANDOM: Gladstone's school for world conquerors
CHRONOLOGY: End of issue #3
CLASS: Villain
SUPERHERO NAME: Skull Brother two
ALTER EGO: Johann | Student
BACKGROUND:
Gladstone's school for world conquerors takes place in a world where both superheroes and supervillains exist. However, unbeknown to most people (specifically civilians and children of heroes and villains under 17), most battles are actually staged; an armistice was signed years ago and anyone who didn't agree with it was sent to jail. One of such people was Madam Skull, mother of the Skull Brothers, whose husband's death was caused by a superhero and for whom the armistice meant that she wouldn't be allowed to take revenge. Meanwhile, the comic itself follows a group of second generation villains (Kid Nefarious, Martian Jones, Mummy Girl, Ghost Girl and the Skull Brothers) as they study at Gladstone.
The first time we see Johann is in issue #1, where he and his brother Wilhelm beat a group of kids for talking badly about their mother. The fight is interrupted by Greenslevees, the school's gardener and former villain, who agrees to let them go after being told that they were the sons of Madam Skull. Johann and Wilhelm don't appear again until issue #3, visiting their mother in jail. There, she reveals that their father died during an event called "May Day" (which was also what prompted the armistice) and, after a short conversation, tells them that they would be receiving instructions from her soon.
The next issue shows them going to Mummy Girl's house along the other kids to study for a test. Once they are done studying, Kid Nefarious finds some comic books and Mummy Girl explains to him that parents don't like their children to know about their past exploits, but he later discovers that the actual reason was because they lose every time they show up, often in humiliating ways. After realizing that all the comics feature the same hero, Shakurankai, they decide to fight him and upload the video to the internet, and the Skull Brothers convince everyone to do it that same night. Unfortunately for them, Shakunrankai ends up being a lot more stronger than they thought, and just as he's about to tell them the truth about the superheroes and villains, Johann knocks him, Martian Jones shots him by accident and they all agree to forget about it. In the end, it's reveled that the whole thing had been planned by the Skull Brothers, and that they mean to use the video to put an end to the armistice.
PERSONALITY:
At first, Wilhelm and Johann seem to have almost the same personality; slightly creepy, but polite, and more educated about the practical aspects of villainy than most of Gladstone's students. However, though they may be hard to notice, the differences are there. Wilhelm is the most conversational of the two and he often has to prompt Johann to talk by asking him questions, on the other hand, Johann is quieter but his emotions show more clearly whenever he does say something.
Both brothers are depicted as very independent and, though its never explicitly stated, it's implied that they have been living alone since their mother was arrested. Besides knowing how to drive a motorcycle and use several types of weapons, specifically guns and explosives in Johann's case, the comic makes a point about how they "were forced to grow up" - they know that the fights between heroes and villains are not real, and so not only they don't get to enjoy them as other kids do, but they have to put up with their mother being called crazy by everyone else as well. Nevertheless, they are still not adults, and as the younger brother this is more obvious in the case of Johann. While he doesn't have trouble keeping up with Wilhelm in things like fighting or explaining the supervillain code (as seen when he recites the section dealing with secret identities), he still gets called out by his brother for getting carried away and showing off during battle. He also seems to be the one that resents Madam Skull's absence the most; for example, he tends to use the word 'mommy' rather than 'mother', he tries to convince her to agree to the armistice so she would get out of jail (only to be told that doing so would be an insult to their father's memory), and he tells Wilhelm that visiting her was harder than he had thought.
Despite sharing the same dislike for 'fake' villains as his mother, Johann actually shows respect for some of the most powerful ones, like when he admits to being scared of the school's gardener and the jail keeper. Not only he wants to be villan, he wants to be a proper one, and so his moral code is based around that; while Kid Nefarious and the others went to fight Shakurankai with the idea of humiliating him and were pretty shocked when they end up killing him by accident, Johann and Wilhelm were planning to do that since the beginning. Still, he doesn't believe in the superiority of the strongest like many others do, and he hasn't gotten to trying to take over the world or actively committing evil just yet; instead, he simply does what he considers best for himself without caring about how it affects others.
POWER:
*Costume (canon): In the comic, his costume is shown to be capable of producing force shields strong enough to stop a falling concrete block and enough electrical current to knock a grown man unconscious. His mask in particular also allows him to breath fire.
*Volatile constructs (non canon): The power to generate bombs that resemble stunt grenades in both power and function.
