So, Monday I woke up and I heard my sister listening to Q102 and I heard them mention cutting. so I decided to put it on in my room and listen. Apparently cutting is the new fad among young adults and preteens. They said that most do it for attention. they had people calling in and talking about this. Alls I know is I would feel really uncomfortable if I was on the way to school and (for some reason) q102 was on and we heard this topic. I think it was a little inapropriate for a radio conversation, although they handled it well, I think it would have been really uncomfortable to listen to with my mom or someone who doesnt quite understand. I duno maybe Im wrong and my mom does understand.. but I think if the topic came up shed probly come off a little ignorant. ( i love my mom though) They were saying how kids do it becuase its a trend. I guess because they get it from other friends and since no one is there own person yet when you are 12/13, you jsut have your friends to go off of- so the cycle goes round and round. They made it seem like its for attention, how would you like your mom to find out you cut and it was all for attention. the whole conversation made me upset, but I couldnt stop listening to what people had to say about it. Personally, I think things only got worse after the movie "Thirteen" came out. thats not to say I dont like that movie. I felt like it only made more girls subconsciously want to be more like them or possibly saw themselves like them. fuck q102. fuck christie or whatever the chicks name is on that morning show. she was pissing me off so much, she didnt know what she was talking about and she jsut kept making sounds that came off offensive. what bull shit.
My input: they were saying that if its on the arm.. that means that person wants attention and people to notice it. I could see how they could think some people would do it for that, but thats not fair to say everyone does it for that. I know people who go out of their way to hide it as much as they possibly can. I think there are some people out there who do it for attention and I dont see why they would choose to get it that way.. maybe they do it without realizing its for attention. but to some, this is a serious addiction. Its very sad and hard to overcome but can be done and I hope those who are having trouble with this get help. you wont regret it.
I dont know, I hadnt talked about that to anyone or how it made me feel so I decided to jsut write about it. comment if you please.
