Was a bit lazy last week...did well on the exam and pretty much rested on that success(wrong word..). I did manage to promote seelive a lickle bit and have designed some flyers to hand out around uni and after gigs in Dylans and The Firestation. I worked Drop The Bomb on Thursday where Rodney P was due to play. I expected it to sell out as the dude has just had a new single all over Radio 1 and isn't exactly a small name in the world of hip-hop. To my surprise about 200 people, at the absolute most, showed up. This was probably for the best as Rodney P didn;t actually show up, causing a lot of refunds!I can remember reading the time at 1245am and thinking, yeah he's not coming. What an asshole, i wonder what his reasons were...
Still i got paid for a relatively easy night..Two things to think about...why on earth my uni is full of people that religiously go to the same night out every monday/friday but when something different/interesting is on, they snub it. Also why the UK/Underground Hip Hop scene is dominated by white students. Bit of a generalisation i know but i rarely ever see more than a handful of black people at hip hop gigs. This is meant nothing more than an observation. It just puzzles me and if i hadn't gone to a hiphop gig before i wouldn't expect to see Black artists playing to all white crowds...
I also worked Friday..another pretty easy night in the engine rooms. I think that is my prefered environment. I use to like working in the main rooms for the lively, loud atmosphere. Now i think i've just been driven crazy by the cocky arrogance of the students and the monotonous playlist of cheese. I'm clearly in the minority but i find it so odd that such repetiveness can remain an attractive nightout. I mean i usually get mocked for being simple/easily pleased but this will always remain a mystery to me!
Came home on Saturday and probably should have gone back to Bournemouthg already but i figure all i have to do today is go out for Amy's birthday later (guess where we're going...firestation, joy...). I went over Lou's on Saturday night, i wanted to go out but due to a combination of me getting there about an hour late, her housemate already going out and her and her mate Gemma being in no state to leave the house when i got there, we stayed in. I got to watch match of the day at least...But it was fun. Their house has a never-ending supply of alcohol. I didn;t realise how drunk i had got until the following morning where i felt a combination of pounding headache and severe dizziness..fun!We went to see Oceans 12, which was pretty shit...didn;t help that neither of us could concentrate but what the hell...
I should probably hop on my train to bournemouth now, adios Trowbridge, it's been a pleasure as always.
