Better that than something actually relating to GO, I'm convinced.

(I may be alone in this, but I hope a film is never made. I don't think I'd ever be happy with the casting, no matter what, and the adaptation would be butchered six ways to Sunday if Hollywood had its druthers *sigh*)

You're not alone. ;)

If it was made as a TV mini-series like some of the Discworld novels, maybe. As a Hollywood film with Famous People in the roles, I think I would hate it so much. Especially if they did the standard American idea of a British accent for Aziraphale, which usually makes me want to punch someone even when it's on a character I don't give a toss about.

Maybe. In all honesty, though, I think I'm opposed to any kind of screen adaptation altogether. A film with a sound, reasonable budget and a clever effects team, plus talented nobodies acting? Maybe maybe. But you'd never get that. As looks go, I keep thinking these days that I'd give Cillian Murphy (admittedly not a nobody) a nod for Crowley, but I think Aziraphale would be pretty much impossible to cast. Adam would be difficult, too. As would Anathema. HARD TO CAST CHARACTERS, is my point :)

If they went with those old rumours and cast Robin Williams as Aziraphale, I would vomit. LOL
Although I'm not so bothered about the casting for anyone other than Aziraphale and Crowley personally, they're the only ones I'm really obsessive over and everyone else, really I have no idea at all how they should be portrayed so whoever played them, it's fairly unlikely to make me think that's wrong, wrong, wrong. But generally I just think, America makes some awesome things; Britain makes some awesome things, but usually when one tries to make or remake something from the other side, it doesn't work.

I'd want a British director, I think, and a mostly-British cast (except for the characters who are obviously of other nationalities, and some of the parts calling for character-actors, i.e. Horsemen and whatnot, could have wiggle-room). The overall sense is so very British, given the writers. There are very few American directors I'd trust to get that.

Personally I think Peter Jackson did a good job with his casting - lesser known actors who were perfect for the roles rather than huge names, etc - and yes, maybe a mini-series like the Discworld books would be good. :D

But overall, at the idea of a GO movie... *points to icon*

Eve Myles (Gwen from Torchwood) is my personal Anathema, even though she's Welsh. It's the whole "face doesn't look like it should look attractive and yet it is" thing, haha. But then she's also not really a nobody! As for Aziraphale, I have a friend who is insists (and okay, fine, has sort of converted me) to the idea that Colin Firth could be passable. uhhhh yeah. I don't even know, and yet I sort of buy it lol.

Your friend may be sort of right about Firth. Huh. Also not a nobody, but a damned good actor, and about the right age now, too.

Hey, if I just had a sword made for me, I would hold a party. Possibly an actual parade.

(I kind of want one, but I also suspect I would be incredibly unhappy with it unless I had personal influence. And considering none of my friends are in the film industry this is never going to happen haha.)
