Help, I need a Britpicker

Dec 17, 2008 10:59

I'm planning this alternate universe, a bunch of related oneshots about little Crowley and Aziraphale meeting at school, which will follow them through the teenage years. There may eventually be slash. The thing is, I'm Singaporean, so all I know about the British education system is gleaned from stuff like Harry Potter and Enid Blyton's many boarding school series, like Malory Towers and St Clare's, which of course are hopelessly outdated (in the case of Blyton) or not very useful (for Rowling; all I could get from that was that secondary school starts at eleven? Here it starts at thirteen).

Plus, Singapore, as an ex-colony, insists on British spelling in schools, but since we're mainly exposed to American media our teen culture, like mainly slang terms, is a weird mix, and since we use both pronounciations some puns may not be applicable.

So, enough rambling; here's the thing - I need a Britpicker to walk me through the British education system and read through all my work to check for slang terms that don't fit and stuff like that (no worries about spelling, usually, since I use British spelling). I don't have a fixed writing schedule or anything, so every now and then there might be a writing fit to check through, and sometimes I might consult you for my Harry Potter/Narnia fanfiction as well.

If you're interested, leave a comment saying so and I'll contact you with my e-mail address. Thanks! :) I'm holidaying in the US at the moment, and will only be back on the 28th, so while I am writing in notebooks, I will only be able to upload stories for you to check after the 28th of December.

Oh, and here's a little tidbit - I'm sipping apple juice from a brand named Apple & Eve, and the logo is this juicy red apple with a bite taken out of it. :P Yes, I'm such a sad GO nerd that even this amuses me.
