Happy New Year Everyone!
All is well, for the most part.  I resigned from my teaching position in order to help my family through some serious health issues, etc, but financially I am fine.  Lots of band news coming in the next few weeks.  I am very contemplative these days, as well.  I guess it's the fact that I am home alone so often.  My heart is full of love on many levels, though, in this new year.  The boy is fine.  The dogs are fine.  On to the dailies.  (P.S.  If you have any questions regarding the band, please message/text/email me.)

Quote of the Day:

" I can only say it now. At the centre of himself, a man cannot choose whom to love. He can choose how to live and can honour the truth of himself where he may. But he cannot choose whom to love, any more than he can choose how tall he is or how good. One can take up platform shoes or fine deeds, but the heart will always have the last word, and when the word is love we can recognise, we can respond, we can submit and we can try to ignore, but we can never choose. Love is not a matter of choice but an obdurate fact of surrender." (p. 288-289)-Be Near Me by Andrew O'Hagan

Image of the Day:  "The Young Martyr"- Delaroche

one of my favorite paintings.  I was blown away when I saw this in the Louvre for the first time.

Film of the Day:  "Fido" dir. Andrew Currie
I love zombie comedies.  I had been meaning to see this for quite some time, but a dear friend finally made me watch it.  Loved it!!  It's lighthearted, and doesn't take itself seriously, very enjoyable and quite a love song to the '50's and Zombie films.  Read more about it here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457572/

Song of the Day:  "Dyslexicon"  -The Mars Volta

Here are the lyrics:

Dyslexicon

nature red in tooth and -
I haven’t seemed to keep my powder dry
I always seem to hear it in your laughter

the second that I fell in love
with the handle of your revolver
I always seem to hear it in your laughter

I beg to you a second chance
with a dried white rose to Bethlehem
I always seem to hear it in your laughter

am I the valency that you deny?

in the time of the sixth sun
we are cattle to the prod
I burn this dictionary
because that's my dyslexicon

-
cackle - specter in this bed
I always seem to hear it in your laughter

a braided strand of children’s mane
-
I always seem to hear it in your laughter

the things you say to me are wrapped in tongues
I always seem to hear it in your laughter

am I the valency that you deny?

in the time of the sixth sun
we are cattle to the prod
I burn this dictionary
because that's my dyslexicon

have you ever tasted heaven
- your mother filled with grief
- wake up Monday morning

that’s when I went down
that’s when I go under
