"until exhausted close our eyelids, and dreaming pick up from the last place we left off"

I got a pain in my neck, and I can't move. Let me explain through the clever use of time-elapse updates.

3:00AM -- Finally going to bed after falling asleep halfway through Last of the Mohicans for the fourth time on the same page.
9:50 -- Hear Steph moving around, decide that breakfast and eating is overrated. Press snooze.
10:30 -- Decide getting up to actually study French / read more of LOTM before French class is overrated. Press snooze.
11:00 -- Alarm goes off, it's about as late as I can go lazing about in bed before putting on clothes and getting out the door becomes necessary. Go to roll over *crick/pop/pinch*

SHOOTING PAIN IN MY NECK.

11:02 -- Call mom because the pain isn't subsiding and I don't know what to do.
11:05 -- Wrench myself to my feet to get at the Ibuprofen on the other side of my room.
11:05 and 30 seconds -- Collapse back onto my bed because I've choked down two pills and I'm literally dizzy with pain.
11:33 -- Call home again. Get advice to take another Ibuprofen, put a hot rag on my neck.
11:40 -- Build up the courage to sit up again, wince in pain, slowly make my way to the bathroom and proceed to get my washcloth moderately warm and wet. Hold a conversation with Ms. Betty as if nothing is wrong while I'm at it. Fall back onto the bed as quickly as possible and whimper in pain as my neck muscles spasm again.
11:46 -- Try sitting up. That's worse. Try lying with no pillows. Still worse.
11:48 -- Grab for my iPod and try to lie down as comfortably as possible and give up on the now cool washcloth.
12:00 -- Steph comes in, and while sympathetic to my plight, doesn't offer to help.
12:12 -- Text Lauren to ask if she can help me get dressed and go to the Student Health Center.
12:13 -- Lauren says yes, but not until 1:30.
12:14 -- Turn up iPod and try to get through another hour and a half of lying still.
1:10 -- Mercifully doze off for a few minutes.
1:35 -- Lauren calls to let me know she's close, will be in my room in about ten minutes.
1:45 -- Get helped into a bra and jeans, then driven to the Student Health Center.

Finally, by 3:00, I've been seen by the 'Triage' nurse, a doctor, prescribed Hydrocodone and filled the prescription for four dollars and change. There's really nothing special they can do, I just have to alternate heat and ice and rest it, I could take Ibuprofen instead of the pills they gave me, especially if I want to get anything done (since the scrip is supposed to make me drowsy). I had a really nice nurse and doctor and now I know a bit more about the SHC, for future reference, which is always good.

Anyway. Now I'm composing a letter to my professors about why I missed class today. I forgot to get an excuse note, but hopefully I'll be able to get one tomorrow if need be. Hoping beyond hope is that  my profs won't care enough to ask me for one. I feel really bad about it because A) we started learning Imparfait today in French, which is really important, B) this is the second Brit Lit class I've missed in a row and C) we were finally finishing up conversation about LOTM today and I can't really afford to miss any more quiz points since I decided to slack it up until now. *sigh* This is just not my year, apparently.

On the upside, I got to see one of my favorite early SVU eps, Ridicule, with young!Diane Neal and awesome Petrovsky. LULZ she was a high powered trading exec into autoeroticism. Seeing her in the arraignment court on the other side of the room was really weird and cool at the same time. Never fails to make me smile, even though they get away with it at the end. (For crying out loud, it aired in 2001, self, why did you think about spoilers?)

I also talked to Bethany for like, ever, which was great. Except the bad part is we keep going too long in between talking, which is both our bads. I call her German Face now. I think I like it. I got a lot of feelings off of my chest, and the same with her in return (I hope), and I introduced her to Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, which she adored because A) she watches HIMYM and loves Barney, B) because she's seen Firefly/Serenity and loves Malcolm Reynolds, C) it's Jossverse, DUH (even though she didn't know who Joss was, I'll forgive her for her folly) and D) there was beautiful singing (and she would know beautiful singing when she heard it). Oh, and mspaint_lolz, because I keep referencing 4man and Howse and Wilsun instead of, you know, their real names.

Speaking of How-- I mean House, I missed yesterday's ep because I was A) trying to read LOTM and B) Steph was watching The Bachelor. So I have that to download/watch. And Trust Me, which I'm looking forward to. So my recouperation time shouldn't suck too bad, when I'm actually not working/struggling with pain/getting up obscenely early because I'm going to have to walk to class, damn it.

Excuse me while I suffer through the pain.
