Noone laughs at God at Ramapo.

I'm quite sure that Sir Kelsey is the only one that will be reading this, but I feel like expressing mah self over teh interwebz.

I was trolling across Facebook, looking for something to do. I had posted on my status that I was in need of social interaction, but to no avail. So I started browsing other people's events, hoping that I would come across something that could occupy my Friday evening. Of course I wouldnt crash someone's birthday party or anything like that. But I know that usually I have tons of event invites that are either of local bands' concerts, or open mics, or class plays. Perhaps I could at least find a reason to bring my ever so neglected Nikon back out of hiding. *Wipes dust off of the lens*

I  never found anyone to hang out with, but what I did find certainly was an adequate comprimise. Regina Spektor herself was performing at Ramapo college. I found it on Caitlin Doran's page (curse her for not going and curse her once more for not having spoken to me in ages). Ramapo is about 53 minutes away from my house according to Google, the show was set to start at 8 and I found the event post at 6:59. So I hightailed it northbound. The powers that be mustve respeckt'ed my wishes (see what I did there?) and allowed me to get there just as the opening act was playing their first few chords.

As it was Regina, there was no way that I couldve been completly disappointed. Although I will say that my trip to McCarren Park with Kelsey still rings out true as the pinnicle of an awesome Regina experience. Its odd though.... the pool was jam packed, filled with umbrella's sniffley noses, and the scents of brats, marlboro lights and booze wafted through the air while the 2000+(?) people squeezed to get a glimpse of her. Yet with all of those strangers, it felt more intimate there than it did with no more than 200 people in an auditorium/theatre. Maybe Regina wasnt feeling it as much. Or maybe it's a matter of her feeding off the audinence. Random passers by that were bored on campus on a friday and happened to have an extra $10 seemed to be the make up of this audience. As opposed to the people that paid $90 a ticket, stood in Will-Call for 90 minutes, stood in the pouring rain for another 3 hours, and applauded so wildly that Regina was compelled to come out for a second encore miniset.

Concert-going seems to be all about the atmosphere.
