A luddite with a livejournal

Without the influence of television and the internet, I might never be discontent with regards to my own life.

Some day I'll live in a house (you know, this isn't so far off from my current situation) where my only technological amenities are a stereo, a refrigerator and a telephone. I'll live amongst stacks of dusty books and treasured albums and if I have children some day, they will probably despise me. I'm totally going to be one of those annoying natural-peanut-butter-wheat-free-low-sugar kind of moms.

Hah. I'm ignoring the likelihood of my buying a laptop this semester. And then an ipod and then a digital camera. Because, come on, those are necessities.

Do you think it will be possible, as our generation ages, for a person to function without having a computer in the house? Will it become as accepted a necessity as a telephone or a microwave? Has it already?

Although, come to think of it, I don't intend to own a microwave either.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to cut this public airing of my lofty ideals somewhat short, as I have an undeniable urge to play video games. On the computer. Assholery!
