Wisconsin Avenue

I had an idea for a photo project. I would walk the entire length of one street, or go as far as I could, and take photos. I’d show the nature of the street, and do it in one day. That's a pretty cool project!

Interesting question. Of course most of the things in my series so far are buildings that are already very old. The main thing is probably the signs on the buildings as the real estate turns over. There was great upheaval through the eighties, before they started to preserve the history. Now there's a cycle of buildings falling apart and then getting restored.

What in my photos are a sign of the time? I will take the opportunity to note: The giant painted arm belongs to a popular basketball player. The trolley is new since 2018. The solar panels on the museum have been there only ten years, and the building will be gone soon. Princess, the guy is wearing very nondescript clothing, but the lit signs in the door seem to be of this time. The bus stop looks modern. The run down neighborhood could change at any time, but probably not soon. The semi trailer yard may decline in use - depends on how the sales of beer continue. The other 30 pictures... I think I'll have to pay more attention to the more ephemeral subjects next time.

Funny, I was thinking I needed a photo for this series, of two guys and their hot dog stand, but they've also been there for decades.
