so my rat joey is coming up on two years now. i took her to the vet for a skin condition (among other things) and it doesn't look good. looks like she might have a long-term respiratory condition, weakening her immune system. because she's so sick, common mites that rodents carry are bugging her (no pun intended, folks), explaining the loss of fur in patches and scabby lesions all over her back and sides. she's also lost a considerable amount of weight (a sixth of her body weight in three months or so), also leading the vet to believe some of her organs are failing.
i love my little girl so much, i just hope the medications he gave me clear up her skin and her respiratory condition so she can be comfortable for the rest of her little life.
also, i think i may want to be a veterinarian.
