Some of you might remember a random poll I was conducting way back in what must have been 2002. The subject was a quote from Thomas Burnett Swann: "It is better to be cruel for love than for hate."
Basically I took issue with that and wanted to hear other sides of the idea and see whether people agreed or disagreed and why. I got some very interesting answers, including "your mom" from Van. (Miss you vannikins)
Anyway, I'm looking into a new church and while perusing their website I came across an outline for a bible study that they're doing and decided to look into the verses and came across Proverbs 27:5 which says, "Open rebuke is better than secret love. (KJV)"
Which brought me back to the previous question. When I was running the poll before, cruel for hate was winning by a fairly substantial margin, about 2/3 of the vote as I recall. So I'm interested in what other people think.
