The Last Time
"What edward?" I answered, shocked. Edward looked sadly down at me.
"The Volturi they're coming." he answered. Shock was written all over my face and i began to tremble. Edward caught me and hurridly made me sit down. He looked at Jasper meaningly but he shook his head.
"Edward." I whispered. He looked back at me worridly.
"What is it love?" he asked.
"Why?' i asked.
"Why what?"
'Why is it that whenever we are happy, whenever there isn't trouble, something always happens? Why? Why us?!?!" I exclaimed as i jolted out of the seat and turned away from the family. No body moved or nobody said anything. I couldn't face it anymore, i ran, out of the house, into the nearby forest. I wandered aimlessly until i finally stopped and sat down on the ground. Immediatly, i felt Edward plop down next to me. Nervously, he embraced me in a hug.
"Bella, i'm so sorry. I though that changing you would solve everything. That finally, we would be free of everything, of everyone, to never again worry in our lives.. our existences. But i was wrong, but i promise." He turned so that i was facing him. He looked at me dead in the eye.
'Bella, i promise, this will be it. It will all br over, and we can live our lives however we want, forever." I gaised into his eyes and saw how deeply he believed this, how deeply, he wanted this and nodded.
"Yes edward, this will be it. Lets just hope its a visit." i answered. He smiled and lifted me off the ground. Together, holding hands we raced back into the house to find everyone exactly where they were. When they saw how relaxed we were they calmed down a little. Esme smiled and came over to confort me.
'Bella honey." She hugged me tightly and gaised into my eyes. Carlisle cleared his throat. We all turned towards him expecting an explanation for the Volturi's sudded visit. Carlisle met my eyes sadly and sighed.
"Bella, as you know, the Volturi are probably checking to see if your still human, and now that you are not, they will certainly invite you to join them" he said. I glared violently at Carlisle, refusing to bring the thought of leaving Edward to my mind.
"Now it's not my place to tell you what to do and what not to do so you are free to leave whenever you like, but if you may, you are married to Edward, so if i might sudgest that you to stay with him." he said. I knew Carlise was trying to be polite but i had to defend myself.
"Carlisle, you are my family now, all of you are my family now," turning to the rest of them,"I will never leave Edward, and i would rather be dead than leave Edward and join the Volturi. Please understand that." i replied. Carlise nodded.
"Good, now it seems they have arrived." said Carlisle. Everyone got up and tensed them selves for anything that might await.
"There's 5, Jane's with them, the rest are gaurds." said Alice who was standing in the back of the room next to a worried Jasper.
"5?" said Emmett. I smiled.
"Be careful Emmett, these gaurds are sometimes even more powerful than the ones gaurded." warned Carlisle.
"Just saying.." muttered an amused Emmet.
There were three short knocks on the door signifying the arrival of the Volturi. I curled my hands around Edward's and looked up at him. He looked back at me, his eyes full of concern and worry and then I knew there would be trouble.
