Body and Appearance

Niko is six-foot-two. He is very thin, and lanky.

He is nineteen years old; his birthday is July first, 1991.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Niko stands straight, but he pulls his shoulders forwards in an attempt to make himself look smaller.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He is in shape, but he’s rather weak. He does not have any physical disabilities, illnesses, or conditions, seeing as I interpret “conditions” as physical and therefore do not count acute social anxiety disorder as one of those “conditions.”
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He moves rather clumsily. He keeps his head down to watch his shoes as he walks and tries not to look anyone in the eye, and tries not to trip, though this happens often.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
When it comes right down to it, Niko is rather average looking. Though he has been described as adorable, and told he is cute on many occasions, he perceives himself as unattractive.

He is extremely pale, and his complexion is clear; he has no freckles, scars, or other facial markings.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
His hair is a coppery color. It’s of middling length, but not longer than his chin, and fine and feathery.

Niko’s eyes are brown.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
No; he’s just a tall, skinny redhead.

Tension centers? If this means things that cause him stress, that’d be just about everything. Public places, large crowds, his classmates, people he doesn’t know, people he knows, new situations…
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
He wears whatever his uncles buy him, or whatever he’s got in his closet, whether this is a sweatshirt and baggy jeans, the Ouran uniform, or a suit.

Yes and no. He’s too tall to get clothing long enough for him, so he has them custom-ordered long enough, but two sizes too big so they’re baggy.

He does not have a job at this point in time.

Speech

His voice is a bit high-pitched for a young man his age.

His voice is extremely quiet; one has to listen closely to actually hear him. He hesitates a lot.

He stutters.

He is a native speaker of Japanese, and nothing more.

He only speaks Japanese.

Niko has to think about his words.

He is inarticulate, and this might not change.

He is book-smart.

He needs time to deliberate. It’s not because he’s a slow thinker, however. It’s because he needs time to get everything in order before writing it down or saying it out loud.

He is both intuitive and practical.

He is finishing up his third and final year of high school.

He is rather even-tempered, though he is melancholy and neither totally laid-back nor driven.

He is normally terrified of new people and situations both.

Niko is more likely to react.

Flight.

He finds most jokes, dark humor, and bathroom humor childish and most pranks not funny because he has been subject to plenty of them during his high school years, most involving the theft and hiding of his prized notebook.

He has been diagnosed with a social anxiety disorder, and deals with it by avoiding most social situations, and he has been diagnosed with a mild form of germaphobic-OCD-hence his aversion to touch.

Protecting his sister from her terrible frienemies, and generally caring for his younger sister Tenshi when their parents were out of town on business despite his social anxiety until he was fifteen has defined him as a person.

He fears being hated and rejected for being who he is.

His hope is to be successful at taking over his uncle’s orthodontics practice, even though he also fears that his presence will ruin the practice.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
He does not want anyone finding out that he was forced to move in with his uncle and his uncle’s life partner because he is gay.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
Niko’s parents were all set to have him trained to take over the paper making company when he came of age, but when he accidentally outed himself at fifteen, they forced him out of their home, therefore their relationship with Niko is strained at best.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Niko has one sibling: Utamira Tenshi, who is fifteen. Though Niko’s parents forced him out and forbade him from seeing his sister more than once a month (though she cannot visit often), Niko and Tenshi have remained close through phone calls and emails.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
He is extremely close to his uncle and his uncle’s life partner because they took him in when his parents forced him out. There are none he cannot stand.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
No.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
He has no best friend.
6. Does he have other close friends?
Not necessarily. Honoo Tori (“Dove”) was the first to actually be persistent enough to try to befriend him and continue to try even when he rebuffed her out of fear and social anxiety.

He does not make friends easily. This is not because he has trouble getting along with people, it is because of his social anxiety disorder.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family.

Single.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
No.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
His first crush was on a (male) classmate of his that, during their third year of middle school, discovered that Niko had been writing stories about them together-Shirogane Hiro. He has no crush at the moment.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He looks for someone that understands that he has his speech impediment, his OCD, and his social anxiety disorder and is patient with him (but not too overly-patient) because of it.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No, no children or grandchildren.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Shirogane Hiro, Ouran Academy class 3-C. It has been discovered that Shirogane has a grudge against Niko because Niko was discovered to have a crush on him in his third and final year of middle school. When Niko moved from his parents’ district to Bunkyo, he was unaware that Shirogane would be attending Ouran as well and had a severe panic attack at the sight of him in the hallway on his first day.

He is gay, falling at five on the Kinsey scale.

He does not want it, and is extremely uncomfortable with the idea, though he believes it should be shared with one person and one person alone.

This is undetermined.
Beliefs

He is a cancer (Western) and he is the sheep (Chinese). He fits the Western sign fairly poorly.

He is neither; these elements hold no importance in his life.

He has resigned himself to try not to offend anyone and to fade into the background, for he believes that if his parents were so offended by his sexuality as to force him out of their home, the same or something similar would happen elsewhere if he were to offend someone else. It would not take a lot at all to compromise it; one must simply feign offence at something he has done or said.

He is extremely tolerant because, as stated above, he does not want to offend anyone.

He tries not to hold any prejudices at all. If he does they are more than likely irrational because he refuses to talk to people for fear of either triggering a panic attack or offending them.
Daily Life

He is rich.

He is not popular; he has never been popular, and this has not affected him a bit. He would rather be part of the woodwork.

He lives in a fairly large house with his uncle and his uncle’s partner. This house is kept in pristine condition, and is just inhabited by the three of them and the small team of staff that his uncle and his partner hired.

Notebooks, writing supplies, music cards, CDs, thumb drives, books.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
He is in the process of being trained to take over his uncle’s orthodontics practice, though he would much, much rather write professionally for a living.

He spends his time writing whatever comes to mind, and getting coffee at a local coffee house with Honoo Tori (“Dove”) on Monday afternoons.

He does not eat meat, nor does he eat breakfast. He has never eaten out, nor has one drop of liquor passed his lips. He tends to avoid cheap, “commoner” food.
