I've been reading through Revelation.
- Twenty-four other thrones surrounded the throne, and seated on these thrones were twenty-four elders, arrayed in white clothing, with crowns of goldupon their heads. (Rev. 4:4)
- The twenty-four elders fall prostrate before Him Who is sitting on the throne, and they worship Him Who lives forever and ever; and they throw down their crowns before the throne, crying out (Rev 4:10)
Check it out!!!
These elders...they have these crowns of GOLD...and they "throw down their crowns before the throne" ----> signifying that the dude on the throne is:
more worthy than they of the golden crowns!!! And they know it, even though they have recieved the crowns, they give them away because they know they are unworthy when compared to Him!
another translation of this text is "They cast down their crowns"...which reminds me of Casting Crowns, perhaps this is where they got their name from!
Phew! I just find all this very exciting. We are unworthy of whatever crowns we may receive...He is always worthy. Basically that is the lesson I'm teaching right here. :)
